AccuWeather.com eXpress Introduced at CTIA in Las Vegas

October 21, 2003 -AccuWeather today launched AccuWeather.com eXpress, the first, colorful animated weather application for the wireless market. The new wireless product, announced today at the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV (booth# 1221), provides wireless carriers with an innovative weather graphics application designed to attract new and existing users.

AccuWeather.com eXpress, based on BREW and SharpMotionART technology, delivers colorful, animated weather forecasts that move across a user's handset providing smart-looking graphic displays, which provide informative and accurate weather at a glance. AccuWeather.com's use of Sharp's BREW-based SharpMotionART technology allows for the development of full-scale animations while keeping file sizes small.

AccuWeather.com eXpress enhances the wireless experience by offering a refreshing, visually exciting weather presentation that provides users access to up-to-date current conditions, pinpoint 12-hour and detailed three-day forecasts, local radar and severe weather warnings, all animated on a user's screen. Designed with a unique, one-touch ease of use, AccuWeather.com eXpress forecasts will play in continuous loops, with no complex menus to navigate. For those subscribers interested in more detailed weather, radar images and severe weather notices, these are also available.

"With AccuWeather.com eXpress, we have brought the most advanced multi-media weather application to the wireless market," says Jim Candor, senior vice president of New Media, AccuWeather, Inc. "It's an informative and entertaining product that's powerful, but also easy to operate. Users don't have to do anything more than simply launch the application. The handset will automatically download the latest forecast."

He adds, "At AccuWeather, we are always looking for new ways to use cutting-edge technologies that will advance the wireless market. Our new AccuWeather.com eXpress delivers innovative and exciting applications for wireless customers."
