Mio Technology Goes Big at Computex 2009

Mio announced 2 new TV PNDs, GPS Phones and 2 Litepad Series Netbooks at this year's Computex.

First, the winner of "Best Choice Award of Computex 2009," the Explora K75. This device is a PND and Smartphone combined, with an ultra-slim body, 3.5-inch touch screen and Mio Spirit mobile edition GPS. It will also operate on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

Next, the Mio Moov V500 and V700 range of PNDs. These will feature a built-in TV, making Mio the first major GPS company to launch a comprehensive line of digital TV PNDs. The Moov V Series is designed to be the ultimate in-mobile entertainment and navigation on the road.Read more

Then, Kingston is your friend, as they have created a kit that will allow you to easily upgrade any laptop or desktop to have a SSD. The SSDNow V series is a kit that features a 64GB or 128GB SSD for either a laptop or desktop.

The kit includes:

  • Cloning software
  • A step-by-step instruction manual for HDD removal and SSD installation
  • Mounting brackets
  • 2.5-inch USB SATA external enclosure for laptop HDDs
  • 3 year warranty

According to Kingston, users can expect to see an overall drive improvement of approximately 50 percent over existing 7200RPM and 5400RPM hard-disk drives.

Ultra-thin Laptop Featuring VIA nano Processor Unveiled

Tongfong, a huge Chinese developer, displayed its new S30A laptop at Computex this week. At only 1.3-inches thick, the S30A features a 13.3-inch display, a 1.3GHz VIA Nano U2250 processor, S3 Chrome 435 ULP graphics, 2GB of DDRII RAM, a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive, an ExpressCard slot and a built-in DVD burner.

The S230A is equipped with a six cell battery, as well as an option for an additional three cell battery that can be inserted in place of the optical drive. Tongfong has not announced a release date or price, yet. Some even speculate that we might see this, in the states, under a different name.Read more

Meet the Mobinnova elan netbook


 Mobinnova elan netbook

Developed by Mobinnova, the elan netbook made its debut this week at Computex. What makes this netbook so unique is that it claims it can show 5-10 hours of continuous HD video playback on a single charge or play up to 24 days of continuous audio playback on a single charge.

This 8.9-inch netbook weighs only 1.84 lbs (836g) and is .8 inches thick. Also, the elan will use NVIDIA's Tegra-based platform that supports accelerated Adobe Flash animations and 720p high-definition video playback.

The elan is fanless and boasts Wi-Fi and 3G wireless connectivity. There is no information regarding the price or release date. I am very intrigued by this netbook and I hope it will make its way to the U.S. Check out the full press release here.
