Toshiba Ships Wireless Stereo Headphones with Bluetooth for Notebooks
May 2005 – Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products, announced the availability of the Toshiba Wireless Stereo Headphones with Bluetooth wireless technology that play streaming audio from a Bluetooth-enabled notebook computer.
The wrap-around headphones allow users to wirelessly listen to music and DVD movies in stereo sound on the Toshiba Qosmio notebook computer and build-to-order Toshiba notebooks with the Bluetooth 1.2 protocol incorporated. The headphones can be made compatible with most notebooks or desktops by purchasing Toshiba’s USB Bluetooth 1.2 capable adapter.
Weighing only 3.2 ounces, Toshiba’s feather-light headphones are operable in almost any environment and will function through walls and other non-metal barriers. The comfortable, ergonomic headphones are ideal for audiophiles, mobile professionals and students.
The Toshiba Wireless Stereo Headphones are available for $99.99 at major consumer electronics and computer stores and from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com). Users can purchase Toshiba’s USB Bluetooth 1.2 capable adapter for $49.99 from ToshibaDirect.
“The development of our headphones allows consumers the freedom to enjoy music and movies without the nuisance of wires,” said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems. “To complement its clear and vibrant sound, the headphones blend a modern design to fit today’s digital lifestyle.”
The headphones enable users to listen to music while roaming from room-to-room or watch a DVD movie while on the couch without disturbing others. Up to eight hours of battery life allows ample time for movie watching or listening to music while performing other tasks, such as fitness routines.
The headphones connect with one device at a time and can manually disconnect from one device and reconnect to another by pressing the two volume buttons simultaneously. The headphone’s Quick Connect feature ensures minimal waiting while the product is initiating an active link with a device implementing Bluetooth wireless technology.
