Sony’s VAIO Subnotebook First With Transmeta’s Crusoe Processor

Sony VAIO PictureBookSony is the first to market a laptop with Transmeta's new Crusoe processor. Crusoe is the new chip on the block. It's a competitor to Intel and AMD and was designed in part by Linux mastermind Linus Torvald. Besides super long battery life (up to 5-hours) the low heat, 600MHz Crusoe processor takes up less space inside the box than its competitors allowing for smaller, more efficient machines.
The 2.2 pound VAIO PictureBook features a built-in progressive scan camera that offers better digital still and video images than previous models and a full complement of digital video editing software. The PictureBook is pricey ($2,300), but it’s definitely the sexiest sub notebook of the season (so far).www.sel.sony.com
