Samsung's New 4-in-1 Solution Saves Time, Space and Money

November 2004 – Samsung, the world’s second largest laser engine manufacturer, augments its award-winning and highly-reliable laser printer and multifunction product lineup with a powerful new flatbed multi-function unit ideal for offices that need complete document management capabilities but don’t want to be overrun with bulky machinery and complicated setups. With the SCX-4720F (MSRP - $499.99), Samsung recognizes both the need for speed and to save space, offering four-in-one functionality for printing, copying, color scanning, and faxing. The unit also features the category’s first USB Direct port for computer-free scanning and printing.

Superior Print Output
The SCX-4720F features Samsung’s hearty 22 page-per-minute (ppm) laser engine, 16MB memory, and utilizes PCL 6 for producing razor-sharp text and graphics at true 1200 dpi resolution. Samsung’s unique Toner Save technology is also incorporated, reducing toner consumption by up to 40 percent when activated.

Fast & Reliable Fax Management
The SCX-4720F incorporates a high-speed (3-seconds-per-page) 33.6 Kbps Super G3 Fax modem, transmission speed of approximately 3 seconds and scan speed of approximately 2 seconds from the platen. As a fax machine it offers auto dials functions such as 40 one-touch and 200 speed-dial.

Advanced Copier Functions
The SCX-4720F offers a 22 copy per minute (cpm) engine to duplicate multiple page documents with ease. It is ideal for copying printed documents, books and IDs. Key features include reduction and enlargement at rates of 25 percent to 400 percent and multiple copies up to 99 copies. It also incorporates several advanced features such as Auto-fit Copy which allows any size image to fill an entire page; Clone Copy to reproduce a single image multiple times onto one sheet; ID card copy which enables users to copy the front and back of identification cards such as driver’s licenses and medical insurance cards onto the front of one document; and black and white Poster printing.

Brilliant Color Scanning
With the SCX-4720F, color images can easily be scanned to the PC for easy sharing, Web site publishing and e-mailing of photos and documents. Samsung SmarThru software makes it easy to scan-to-file, scan-to-application and scan-to-email. With Optical Character Recognition (OCR), originals can also be scanned and transformed into text files for editing.

The SCX-4720F is compatible with Windows (98/ME/2000/XP) and Linux (Red Hat, Caldera, Mandrake, Slackware, SUSE and Turbo Linux) operating systems.
