Samsung Introduces the World’s Fastest CD-R/W/DVD Drive

July 15, 2002 --Samsung, a worldwide consumer electronics and IT digital leader, smashes the multifunction optical disc drive speed barrier with the introduction of its new SM-332 CD-R/W and DVD combination drive. The SM-332 is the world’s first high-speed multifunction drive to feature DVD Reading and 32X CD Recording. Delivering the fastest CD recording performance of any combination drive on the market today, the SM-332 offers 32X CD Recording, 10X CD Rewriting and industry-leading 40X CD-ROM Reading and 12X DVD-ROM Reading. The SM-332 supports recording and editing of high-capacity photo, video, and music data, as well as compatibility with existing popular CD and DVD media formats. The new SM-332 is currently shipping in both retail and distribution channels.

Perfect for any computer user who wishes to record MP3 files onto CDs, watch DVD movies or play CD and DVD video games, the SM-332 utilizes Dynamic Vibration Absorbers (DVA) to reduce the vibration and noise emitted from the drive. In addition, the SM-332 incorporates a high-capacity 8MB buffer that ensures any CD and DVD-ROM reads smoothly and utilizes high-end technology to prevent Buffer Under Run Error. The SM-332’s soft MPEG decoder plays DVD-Video without the need for an MPEG decoder board. Other supported read-only formats include CD-R, CD-RW and multi-session photo CD. The SM-332 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/XP and 2000 operating systems.
