Samsung Introduces Blazing-Fast CR-R/RW Optical Disc Drive

September 2003 – Samsung continues to defy the ordinary with the introduction of its new SW-252FRNS CD-R/RW optical disc drive. The lightening-quick drive sports 52X CD Recording, unsurpassed 32X CD Rewriting and 52X CD-ROM Reading. The SW-252FRNS is currently shipping to Samsung’s OEM customers and will be available under the Samsung branded name in retail and distribution channels across the nation in October 2003. The suggest retail price of the drive is $79.

Targeted to both advanced and novice computer users, The SW-252FRNS is ideal for those who record MP3 files and data to CDs as well as play audio and entertainment CDs. Samsung’s newest CD-R/RW drive supports recording and editing of high-capacity photo, video, and music data, as well as compatibility with existing popular CD media formats.

Utilizing Samsung’s Dynamic Vibration Absorbers (DVA) to reduce the vibration and noise emitted from the drive, the SW-252FRNS incorporates high-end technology to prevent Buffer Under Run Error. The drive also features a high-capacity 8MB buffer memory that makes burning all CDs a fast and easy process. The SW-252FRNS is offered in a standard half-height form factor and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, giving consumers further options for more efficient use of space in their PC.

The SW-252FRNS is write-compatible with CD-R and CD-RW media and supports variable packet CD-R, variable and fixed packed CD-RW read and write. In addition, the drive supports CD-ROM titles, plus titles in CD-Extra format that contain image and text information of audio CDs. Other supported read-only formats include CD-R, CD-RW and multi-session photo CD.

The SW-252FRNS is compatible with Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/XP and 2000 operating systems. For easy installation, the SW-252FRNS uses an eIDE/ATAPI interface and features Optical Pick-Ups adopting an Annular Mask Lens.
