Samsung Expands Flat-Panel Monitor Family

New 15” and 17” TFTs Offer Corporate and Home Users Advanced Image Viewing on Slim, Sleek and Space-Saving Displays
SyncMaster 171SOctober 25, 2001 – Samsung, the world’s leading manufacturer of CRT and TFT monitors, announces four new flat-panel displays that join its award-winning family of TFT monitors. The new 15” and 17” models include the powerful SyncMaster 151B and 171B targeted to corporate users who demand exceptional viewing performance, and the more affordably priced SyncMaster 151S and 171S, which are perfect for businesses and home users who want the benefits of TFT technology without draining their bank accounts. All four monitors are currently available.

SyncMaster 151B and 171B: Corporate Powerhouse Displays
The perfect display solution for corporate, financial, medical and even home office settings where space is at a premium, the slim B series are Pivot Enabled and come with a swivel base for instant switching between portrait and landscape viewing. With Pivot, users have full-page viewing capabilities of 8-1/2 x 11 or A4 documents without having to scroll.

Samsung’s 17” SyncMaster 171B features a Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) screen, the latest technology advancement in liquid crystal cell structure for improved viewing. The 171B sports an extra-wide 170° viewing angle, an exceptionally high brightness rate of 250cd/m2, a 400:1 contrast ratio and an extremely fast response time of less than 25 milliseconds. The 171B is perfect for those who require critical data and graphics that are accurately displayed with photo-realistic image quality including motion video applications, 3D technologies, entertainment, gaming and Web design. The 171B has an ultra-fine pixel pitch of .264 mm and offers a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

The 15” multimedia SyncMaster 151B features built-in stereo speakers and has a pixel pitch of .297 mm for a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768.

SyncMaster 151S and 171S: Affordable Displays for the Home and Office
Samsung’s new S series is the affordable solution for home and business users who want a high-end display with the space saving benefits of flat panel monitors. The 17” 171S features Advanced Imaging Scaling for picture-perfect images and offers a switch able aspect ratio of 5:4 or 4:3. The monitor has a fine pixel pitch of .264 mm and a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Perfect for the home user who wants the power of TFT display technology, the ultra-affordable 15” 151S features a slim, lightweight design and delivers superior image quality. The display has a .297 mm pixel pitch and a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768.

Energy As Well As Space Savings
Perfect for energy-conscious times, Samsung’s B and S monitors have extremely low power consumption rates. The SyncMaster 171B and 171S use a maximum of 34 Watts of power, the 151B consumes just 30 Watts and the 151S uses an amazingly low 24 Watts of power! Samsung’s monitors feature a four-stage (On, Stand-by, Suspend, Off) power management system that complies with the VESA DPMS, NUTEK and Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star standards. Both displays also meet the stringent MPR-II and TCO-99 low radiation standards.

The displays’ enhanced, easy access control capabilities include a one-button auto calibration system for automatic set up of contrast, brightness, image lock and horizontal and vertical positioning. In addition, the new displays offer separate resets for geometry and color temperature, an automatic save for user adjustments and a selection of six languages.

For easy installation and optimum configuration, Samsung’s new B and S monitors have built-in Plug and Play capability that conforms to the Video Electronics Standards Association's (VESA) Display Data Channel (DDC) Type 1/2B standards. When used with the appropriate hardware and software, Plug and Play automatically configures the monitor with the host computer and selects the optimum resolution and refresh rates to achieve crisp detail, bright colors and razor sharp images.
