Philips launches 190P6 and 200W6 LCD Monitors
July 18, 2005 – Philips Electronics is changing the way display technology is viewed in the workplace with the introduction of two new business LCD monitors. The new 19-inch professional (model series 190P6) and 20-inch wide (model series 200W6) offer advanced functionality and features never before available in the market.
“Philips’ 190P6 and 200W6 monitors are specifically designed to increase end-user productivity in professional applications, while offering a lower total cost of ownership through our SmartManageTM asset management system,” said John Neilson, vice president and general manager of Philips Business Solutions. “The monitors encompass our latest technology innovations transforming them from simple out-of-the-box commodities to legitimate business tools that can have a positive impact on a company’s bottom line.”
The 190P6 is the flagship of Philips’ display product line. The 19-inch LCD monitor delivers a crisp picture with an SXGA 1280x1024 resolution and fast 8ms response time. It also features the Philips Perfect PanelTM warranty. Perfect Panel is the industry’s most comprehensive warranty, safeguarding against bright or dark dot defects. Further ensuring a flawless picture, the 190P6 also employs LightFrame Digital Reality (LFDR) technology that combines hardware and software technology to generate optimal, high-quality images on the screen to have the users enjoy the experience of outstanding front of screen performance with Philips 190P6 LCD monitor. More than that, brightness levels can also be automatically adjusted in accordance to ambient lighting through the product’s SmartBright functionality.
“The market for 19-inch LCD monitors is positioned to more than double in volume sales worldwide in the next year alone. With desktop LCD monitors forecasted to represent over 80% of the total monitors purchased in North America by the end of this year, name-brand vendors with quality assurance guarantees are best positioned to help achieve this penetration rate,” said Chris Connery, vice president of market research at DisplaySearch. “Guaranteed picture quality is especially important in business environments where anomalies such as defective pixels can be mistaken for decimal places, periods and other seemingly subtle differences which are actually mission critical for all types of business tasks where electronic communication is becoming the norm.”
The Philips 190P6 is also extremely versatile. Users can work from a traditional landscape view, or choose to easily rotate the monitor 90 degrees for a portrait view. It also comes equipped with a 4-port USB hub integrated into its bezel and all necessary software and cables, including a USB cable and both analog VGA and digital DVI connection cables.
The wide screen of Philips’ 200W6 offers many advantages to the workplace. The 20-inch LCD’s WSXGA+ 1680x1050 resolution and wide viewing angle of up to 176 degrees can accommodate two letter-sized pages side-by-side in a single pane. This increases productivity by allowing users the ability to work from multiple applications without constantly switching between window views. For added convenience, the monitor comes with a USB port and speakers built-in. It also includes all needed cables, including both VGA and DVI connection cables.
The picture quality of the 200W6 and 190P6 also translates onto the physical page. The monitors feature sRGB viewing that matches color settings between the monitor and sRGB equipped printers so that what you see is truly what you get.
In addition to improved productivity and overall functionality, the Philips 200W6 and 190P6 also deliver a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) by featuring Philips’ exclusive SmartManage, an asset management technology, which allows IT administrators to track and control all Philips’ monitors from a single point on the network. Administrators can track hours of usage, adjust monitor settings, reset factory display settings, verify monitor locations, power monitors on and off, provide technical support, communicate with end-users and set security policies to prevent monitor theft and loss. Manual tasks, such as costly desk-side support and inventory audits, are virtually eliminated.
Philips’ Environmentally-Friendly Green Design
The 190P6 and 200W6 demonstrate Philips’ commitment to conserving natural resources. Both are based on a green eco-design process that aims to reduce power consumption and makes production more environmentally-friendly. Philips reduces water and energy consumption during production, leaving more resources for future generations. The monitors also have standby power consumption lower than competitive products, providing tremendous savings to the end-user as part of the lower TCO.
Upping the environmental ante, these Philips products already now comply with the stringent European Community RoHS Directive that mandates restrictions on hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The directive’s goal is to virtually eliminate toxic substances like lead from displays. Lead-free displays promote environmentally sound recovery and eliminate environmental issues connected with the disposal of waste from Philips monitors.
Pricing and Availability
The two new Philips LCD monitors are currently available at a suggested retail price of $579.99 for the 190P6 and $699.99 for the 200W6. Philips professional monitors are available for purchase through Philips direct sales or through approved distributors, resellers and system integrators.
