New Three-in-One Flat-Screen CRTs

Samsung's new three-in-one 17” CRT monitors -- the SyncMaster 763mb and SyncMaster 765mb -- feature three separate “brightness modes” that are designed specifically for high-end PC, Internet and entertainment applications. Targeted to PC and online gamers, graphics professionals, and motion video editors, Samsung’s versatile displays allow users to select the mode of their choice by simply pressing the “hot key” button on the front of the monitor. The first of the three brightness modes (PC-text) is for text-based computing such as world processing, spreadsheets, graphics and database applications. The PC mode features a brightness level equivalent to what users are accustomed to on traditional computer displays.

The second mode (Internet) is designed for use when viewing streaming video or video from the Internet that offers an increased in luminescence for enhanced monitor viewing. As a result, users downloading video from the Internet see a brighter, sharper and crisper image when compared with video viewed on a traditional PC display.

The third -- and brightest -- mode parallels the TV viewing experience and features the highest luminescence level. This mode is designed for entertainment applications such as PC-Internet gaming, multimedia content editing, and watching TV or HDTV (if a user’s PC includes a TV tuner).

The SyncMaster 763mb is a consumer-orientated monitor that features a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024@ 85Hz. The high-end SyncMaster 765mb features a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200@ 85Hz.
