New Software Brings Two-Way Audio and Web Cam to the Classroom

December 17, 2002 - Minicom Advanced Systems (Minicom), leading innovator of CBT hardware and software technology, today announced the release of the latest version of its powerful interactive classroom software solution, AristoClass. From the makers of Classnet, the world- leading computer based training solution, AristoClass 3.1 gives teachers the tools to create an exciting, interactive learning experience while keeping full control of the class and tabs on the progress of each student.

AristoClass puts teachers in charge, letting them grab undivided attention by darkening or disabling student screens, and setting different tasks for different groups of students. Teachers can demonstrate concepts by broadcasting any class screen to any other, students can send discreet requests for help, and can communicate via CHAT, two-way audio, and messaging systems.

"AristoClass empowers teachers to create a richly interactive learning environment in the computer classroom," commented Eran Kessel, Marketing Manager of Minicom. "With the new version, students can pair up to work together via earphones and screen, using the web cam to enrich their learning experience."

More details about the new version and a free trial download can be found at http://www.minicom.com/aristoclass.htm. Now fully compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, AristoClass 3.1 breaks ground with these unique new features:

  • Voice over IP - gives full duplex audio, letting a teacher have a two-way full duplex conversation with any student, without interference.
  • Web Cam - lets teachers broadcast images of objects directly to student screens, or can be directed at the class, allowing the teacher or the principal to monitor classroom activity from another room.
  • Pairing - lets teachers 'pair' random couples of students to work together. Any pair of students can set up a bi-directional audio-visual collaboration to work together in a language lab or on any other project.
  • Multimedia files - DVX, AVI, and MPEG files can now be rapidly transferred to student screens.
