June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pentax VersaCam IC-4, a new innovative Internet camera, was launched today by Pentax Technologies Corporation. It contains a four channel integrated camera server and produces high quality, color images up to 720 x 486 pixel resolution all without the need for an attached PC. The VersaCam IC-4 provides authorized users with remote access to the images anywhere they can connect to the Internet.

The Pentax VersaCam IC-4 Internet Camera produces high-quality images without the need for an attached computer making it ideal for use in applications where co-locating a PC is not practical. With four input channels, the Pentax VersaCam IC-4 can act as an integrated server for additional cameras, greatly reducing the cost of system integration. Up to 100 authorized users can view the images captured by the Pentax VersaCam IC-4 by accessing the camera over the Internet. Innovative Wavelet algorithm compression technology is used, offering image transfer speeds at up to 30 frames per second. Five selectable image transfer resolutions are available plus a wide selection of Pentax's line of high-quality optical lenses (preferred lens specified by customer at the time of purchase). These features, along with the ability to select either full-time monitoring or motion sensor triggers, make the Pentax VersaCam IC-4 a remarkably versatile and superior quality Internet camera and the ultimate remote monitoring device.
