To begin, users simply plug the Instant Music for Mac device into a USB port on their Mac. With the stereo (right and left RCA) or SPDIF Digital Audio (TOSlink) inputs and outputs on the back of the unit, they can capture music from any analog audio source (cassette, turntable, TV, radio). Using the Roxio CD Spin Doctor 2 audio recording software bundled with Instant Music for Mac, audio can be captured from any analog source, including a cassette player, turntable, TV or radio. The software records to the high-quality AIFF format and includes a series of sliders that make it easy to enhance the base or reduce the clicks, crackles, and hisses that are typical with vinyl audio. Then, CD Spin Doctor will encode the music into MP3, AAC (iPod) or Apple Lossless files using iTunes. The files are then ready to be played on the Mac, transferred to a portable MP3 player or burned to a CD.
