New Free Download Manager 1.5 Now Available

December 2004 – FreeDownloadManager.org announces today the release of Free Download Manager 1.5. FDM is a full-featured download accelerator and manager that allows users to easily download a list of files and entire Web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP.

FDM is a lightweight but powerful download tool. It offers users a variety of options to control and schedule downloads, as well as the ability to split individual downloads into several sections in order to increase download speed up to 600 percent. FDM is also capable of downloading files from several mirrors, improving overall download efficiency.

With FDM users can choose their preferred download speed with three modes of network usage – light, medium and heavy. The convenient schedule manager function allows FDM to connect to the Internet at a set time, download files, launch programs, and disconnect or shut down the computer when the tasks are complete.

New features include an audio/video preview so users can be sure of what they are downloading in advance. In addition, users have the ability to preview individual ZIP files in order to choose specific files rather than downloading the entire ZIP archive.

Other features of FDM allow users to:

  • Resume broken downloads after casual interruption.
  • Specify settings of network usage, such as log-in and password, maximum connections, and default groups.
  • Downloads files with user-specific extensions.

In order to use FDM, you must have one of the following operating systems on your computer:

  • Microsoft Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 and above

FDM is a free software product available at www.freedownloadmanager.org. The entire FDM project is sponsored by VicMan Software, whose sponsorship ensures that FDM will remain a free software product.
