Kensington on the Fly
Kensington Fly USB-enabled accessories are a great budget-priced
gadget we stumbled upon recently at an Apple Store, but you can use them
with a Windows PC as well. These $20 add-ons are so cool that even the
most jaded techie will love them. The FlyFan is a miniature
cooling fan mounted on a short, flexible gooseneck that plugs right into
any laptop's USB port for portable air-flow cooling.
The similar
FlyLight takes the concept a step further and replaces the fan with a
high-intensity light bulb you can aim down at the laptop keyboard for
work and play no matter how dark the room. Kensington even offers a
version of the FlyLight with a red LED light for in-flight use so your
laptop keyboard is illuminated but the light won't bother the person in
the next seat. Kensington claims these Fly devices only consume 5
minutes of battery life per hour's charge, so you'll barely notice a
difference in battery life. $20. www.kensington.com
