Infogrames Expands Arcade-Style Battle Lineup

June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Expanding on the success of Operation Blockade, Infogrames announced the summer and fall releases of three additional "operation" titles: Operation Tiger Hunt, Operation Steel Tide and Operation War in the Pacific. The impressive lineup of battle titles brings classic arcade-style fun to a new level. Compelling action and strategic game play elements combine to entice war enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. "War games are typically difficult to learn, taking hours of play to master," said Dennis Davidson, marketing manager at Infogrames' Minneapolis Studio. "The unique element of the Operation franchise is that it only takes minutes to master, but provides unlimited hours of entertainment."

In a WWII battlestorm of excitement, Operation Tiger Hunt allows gamers to drive, shoot and destroy their enemies from the seat of a maneuverable M4 Sherman Tank. Fearsome armor piercing German tanks lurk in virtual villages, beaches and farm fields eager to foil the player with insurmountable firepower. Developed by Digital Fusion, Operation Tiger Hunt is slated to release in August.

Operation Steel Tide, developed by Screaming Games, is a dynamic WWII submarine shooter. Players captain a new highly-classified submarine unleashed in Pacific canyon mazes, underwater caves, harbors and open seas. Appealing to the mass audience, Operation Steel Tide emphasizes rivet-ripping action while integrating strategic maneuvers for serious gamers. Players complete missions in one area before moving on to conquer other opponents. With no shortage of enemies and plenty of targets for arcade action at every turn, Operation Steel Tide is scheduled for a September 2002 release.

The last title in the series, Operation War in the Pacific, is a rotating 3-D gallery shooter. Defending the American fleet from Japanese attacks in a WWII Pacific Island campaign, players progress through several familiar battles including Midway, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Operation War in the Pacific, developed by Running Dog Software, is slated for release in November 2002.

All three titles are for the PC and will ship for a suggested retail price of $19.99 each. For more information about these games visit http://www.us.infogrames.com/.
