(NYSE: GTW) today introduced the new Gateway Solo(R) 9550 portable computer, designed for customers who require the latest in notebook technology and innovation.

The Solo 9550's new Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Processor-M, huge 15.7-inch screen and leading-edge multimedia capabilities make it the notebook of choice for business and home users who need a powerful computer that also provides the freedom of mobility. The new notebook is certified Wi-Fi(TM) compliant with optional integrated 802.11b wireless capability, enabling customers to connect to a wireless Local Area Network at speeds that rival wired networks.

Gateway is providing MobileStar(SM) wireless service for 90 days (1) to customers who purchase any of its notebooks with wireless capability. MobileStar provides access to the Internet via a wireless network located in many public locations nationwide, including hotel lobbies, major airports and Starbucks(R) coffeehouses.

Solo 9550 Delivers Outstanding Performance for Mobile Computing
Gateway customers can rely on the Solo 9550 to provide unsurpassed performance for demanding software applications. The latest Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) III 1.13GHz Processor-M enables customers to speed through applications while saving power. It also incorporates NVIDIA's(R) powerful GeForce2 Go(TM) graphics card to bring all types of applications to life -- from Internet research and financial modeling to digital video editing and gaming.

Unique to the industry, the Solo 9550 provides a large 15.7-inch TFT SXGA screen, providing a viewable area comparable to a 17-inch desktop monitor. Providing added value, the crisp and vibrant screens eliminate the need for a stationary monitor on the desktop.

Support for dual modular bays allows customers to customize the capabilities of the Solo 9550. The notebook offers support for a second hard drive, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, combination CD-RW/DVD-ROM or CD-ROM in the first modular bay, and support for a floppy drive, extended battery, or third hard drive in the second modular bay. With both optional hard drives connected via the modular bays, the Solo 9550 is capable of supporting up to 70 GB of storage.
