Gateway Preloading BigFix on All New Consumer PCs Sold in North America

Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. today announced that all of its eMachines and Gateway consumer systems sold in North America now come preloaded with BigFix software, a tool that enhances PC health and performance. BigFix provides critical system-specific information to users, and identifies and resolves problems that affect users' systems before they occur.

"BigFix enables us to proactively resolve known issues before we receive a customer call," said Mike Zimmerman, Gateway's senior vice president of customer care services and quality assurance. "Our experience has shown that this is an ideal way to improve customer care and promote security."

As of October 2004, all Gateway and eMachines desktop and notebook PCs will ship with BigFix at no additional cost to the customer. BigFix will be activated once the customer has booted up or turned on their PC and a live connection to the Internet has been established.
