Fonix Introduces Fonix VoiceDirector for Windows

Fonix VoiceDirector gives anyone with a preference for hands-free PC navigation a simple and reliable enhancement to the PC mouse. Designed to enhance the user's interaction with the PC, Fonix VoiceDirector launches tasks, applications, documents, music, video files, and more, all via short, spoken commands. Users can opt for Fonix VoiceDirector's default selection of control words, or enter their own lexicon of words and/or phrases for ease-of-use or to create a unique computer "personality."

Customizable Voice Commands Aid Memory, Productivity
To accommodate user preferences, industry jargon, or simply as a memory aid, Fonix VoiceDirector lets individuals create recognized names for specific applications, files, or tools. "Web" can replace "Internet Explorer," for instance, or "email" for "Microsoft Outlook." Commands can also be specified that launch both files and their applications; e.g., "thesis" can launch both Microsoft Word and a file containing the person's doctoral dissertation.

Fonix VoiceDirector makes it easy to play any song or video in the PC's memory just by speaking the selection title. Checking the time, closing applications, saving files, launching games, and many more daily tasks can be navigated with ease via Fonix VoiceDirector, using simple voice commands.

Also adding to the software's flexibility is the option to specify a preface word or phrase that legitimizes or "authorizes" the user's spoken command. Such a feature prevents commands from being carried out when a command word is spoken during normal conversation. The word "Web," for example, without being preceded by a specific word or phrase such as "Director," will not launch the Internet browser. Alternately, if the individual is working alone, he or she can turn off the preface feature and launch commands directly by simply saying the command without having to use the preface phrase.
