Epson Announces Two Projectors Ideal for the Classroom

Oct. 17, 2005 – Epson is launching two 3LCD ultraportable multimedia projectors that are optimized for classroom educators and boardroom presenters with the launch of the Epson PowerLite 82c and PowerLite 62c. Both projectors feature up to 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, broad connectivity options, classroom-filling audio, quick and easy four-second start up and Epson’s exclusive “Instant Off feature. The PowerLite 82p features XGA (1,024 x 768) native resolution and is priced at $1,299, while the PowerLite 62p offers SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution for $1,199 (both are estimated street prices).

“These new models build off our most successful education-focused projectors to date [the PowerLite 81p and 61p] and incorporate all of the same core benefits but add more, said Aaron Marinari, senior product manager, Epson America. “The PowerLite 82c and 62c not only provide new technologies for faster and easier setup and shut-downs but also raise the bar on the industry with their compact designs. These units weigh only 5.9 pounds, which also makes them considerably lighter than competing projectors in this price category.

Fast, Easy Setup and Epson’s Exclusive InstantOff
The PowerLite 82c and 62c offer several easy-to-use setup features that help presenters get up and running quickly. Powering on the projector requires only four seconds of warming up before a picture appears on the screen and a 1.2x optical zoom lens allows the display size to be adjusted to project large images from relatively short throw distances. Setup is further simplified with 30-degree automatic keystone correction, which corrects within one second.

In the past, projector users have had to worry about waiting to unplug their projectors after the cool down period. To alleviate this concern, Epson created a proprietary feature called Instant Off. Once the user presses the power button to turn it off, there is no need for additional cooling time, so the projector immediately shuts down and can be unplugged and packed up for the next class or meeting without the noise or delays often associated with cool-down cycles. The projectors also feature a new lamp technology called E-TORL (Epson Twin Optimized Reflection Lamp) – a unique, lower-watt lamp solution that consumes less electricity, produces less heat, yet still maintains competitive levels of brightness.

The Epson PowerLite 82c and 62c offer four video input connections including two individual “computer inputs. This wide selection of inputs enables users to connect, and easily switch between, several different source devices such as PCs, video players and audio. Additionally, the projectors’ “Auto Source Selection feature allows presenters to get their content up and running quicker and easier, alleviating stresses commonly associated with setup time.

About Epson 3LCD – “A Better Way to See
Epson 3LCD technology utilizes one LCD chip each for red, green and blue to form a continuous image with smooth, rapid-motion video that is free of artifacts. It is a solid-state technology that works without a moving color wheel, resulting in accurate color registration, detailed video and data images that are crisp and rainbow-free. Epson 3LCD technology produces optimal viewing experiences for business applications, educational environments, and home entertainment.
