Dazzle Turns the PC Into DVD Creation Station

Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SCM Microsystems, Inc., (Nasdaq: SCMM; Neuer Markt: SMY) a leading provider of solutions that open the Digital World, today announced its Dazzle DVD Creation Station 200 (DCS 200). It is the industry's first multi-input, all-in-one hardware and software solution for creating videos and photo slideshows to play back on a home DVD player.

The DCS 200 allows consumers to capture DVD quality video from any camcorder, VCR or TV, as well as read photo and other files from all types of flash card media. The device comes with a complete suite of Dazzle software which allows users to capture and edit video, as well as design and burn DVDs and photo slideshows. The DCS 200 also supports outputting video to videotape, Video CD, and the web.

"DVD players, digital cameras and camcorders are the hottest consumer electronics products in the market," said Dirk Peters, Director of Marketing for SCM Microsystems' Digital Media and Video division. "The breakthrough DCS 200 links these three technologies together so consumers can take their videos and photos and create DVDs that they can watch on their home DVD players. The DCS 200 connects to the PC via a standard USB interface, making it very easy to set up. In addition to RCA video, S-Video and RCA audio ports for inputting and outputting video, the DCS200 has slots for reading all types of digital flash memory cards, including CompactFlash Type I and II, IBM Microdrive, SmartMedia, SD Card, MultiMediaCard and Sony Memory Stick.

Three powerful software applications are included with the DCS 200:

  • Dazzle MovieStar 5.0 -- this complete video editing package enables users to capture video, cut out unwanted scenes, add titles, 3D transitions, background audio, voice over narrations and special effects. It also lets users output video to videotape, VideoCD, S-VCD, DVD, video email or stream video over the Internet via the Dazzle Webcast Theater.


  • Dazzle DVD Complete -- Dazzle's software for designing and burning DVDs takes users from camcorder to DVD disc in five easy steps. This easy-to-use program allows consumers to take edited video, add interactive menus, chapters and titles, choose from professionally developed graphic themes and burn directly to a CD or DVD disc, complete with matching disc labels and jewel case .


  • OnDVD -- this digital photography application allows users to import digital pictures, edit and touch up the images, organize a slideshow on a timeline, add background audio and then burn a Video CD which plays back on a DVD player.

Dazzle DCS 200 supports Windows 98 SE, 2000, ME and XP operating systems. The product is priced at $229.99 (MSRP) and available now.
