Dazzle Makes You the Star in Home Video Editing

Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SCM Microsystems, Inc., (Nasdaq: SCMM; Neuer Markt: SMY) a leading provider of solutions that open the Digital World, today announced the release of Dazzle MovieStar 5, the newest addition to its digital video software line. MovieStar 5 combines an easy-to-use user interface with powerful editing features to provide home users with what they need to create their own professional looking movies.

MovieStar 5's innovative user interface makes video editing the easiest it has ever been. Almost all video editing tasks can be completed in three mouse clicks or less. In addition, MovieStar 5 is the first real consumer video editing software to support Background Rendering, which means that the most time consuming and frustrating part of the video editing experience -- rendering a final project -- is cut down dramatically.

"Most video editing software is designed with the professional in mind and so is very complex; but MovieStar 5 is targeted at average PC users who wants their video projects to look professional but be quick and easy to do," said Dirk Peters, Director of Marketing for SCM Microsystems' Digital Media and Video division. "MovieStar 5 makes capturing editing and sharing video easy, but it does not leave out the powerful features people want."

MovieStar 5 offers many features that make it easy to make a home video look professional, including:

  • FastKut Trimmer windows that allow users to quickly trim up to three adjoining video clips at once, making it easier to create smooth flowing projects;
  • Storyboard or Timeline views that offer the flexibility to work in a very simple or exceptionally precise mode;
  • Over 100 3D transitions and special effects to add a professional look;
  • An innovative user interface that enables most common editing tasks to be done in three mouse clicks or less;
  • Background rendering to dramatically speed up video processing;
  • An integrated Video CD burning engine so users can record directly to their CD burner without additional software; and
  • The ability to output to videotape or the web right from the software itself.

MovieStar 5 will be sold as a stand-alone product, as well as bundled as a key software component with numerous Dazzle video capture products. It is compatible with Windows 98 SE, 2000, ME and XP operating systems. MovieStar 5 is priced at $49.99 (MSRP) and available in August 2002.
