Casio Announces 2.1 Pound Cassiopeia Sub-Notebook with Crusoe Processor

May 9, 2001—Casio announced today that the CASSIOPEIA FIVA MPC-206E, with the Crusoe processor from Transmeta will be available in the U.S. this month. It will sell at the suggested price of $1,999.99.The sleek new CASSIOPEIA FIVA MPC-206E offers powerful performance and up to nine hours of continuous operation. The MPC-206E is an ideal traveling partner for the mobile business professional. The product ships with Microsoft Windows® Millennium Edition, and is also designed to support Linux as an alternative operating system. The MPC-206E also features an A/B mode switch to change from Windows Me to a limited Linux operating system instantly. Linux allows the device to skip the Windows boot-up when it comes to certain applications like MP3 player and FTP client.
