Canon Launches New Facsimile Device Multi-Tasks as a Desktop Fax, Printer, and
July 25, 2005--Combining high-speed fax and telephoning capabilities with high-quality laser printing in one compact design, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation's market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions(1), today introduced the new Canon FAXPHONE L120 Laser Fax/Printer. Ideal for small and home offices, the device's low-profile and subtle appearance complement desktops while the print speed and handset allow it to multi-task as both a printer and a telephone.
Reinforcing Canon's expansive retail fax product portfolio, the FAXPHONE L120 offers a sensible design incorporating its control panel, telephone handset, and 30-sheet document feeder into a single, compact size that fits easily onto a desktop. The new FAXPHONE L120 is a true multifunction device, functioning as a fax machine, monochrome laser printer, and telephone, eliminating the need for multiple devices.
The new FAXPHONE L120 features a Super G3 33.6 Kbps modem for facsimile transmissions of up to three seconds per page and standard 16 MB of memory for storage of up to 340 letter-size page(2) documents. The device also delivers high-quality monochrome laser printing at up to 12 pages-per-minute (ppm), and features a 150-sheet front-loading letter cassette tray(3) for medium to heavy workloads.
"With fax technology remaining an important part of business practices, we continue to see an ever-increasing need for speed, memory, resolution, and media requirements," said Yusuke Mizoguchi, assistant director, SOHO Workgroup Systems, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The new FAXPHONE L120 offers customers a robust fax solution combined with excellent laser print speed and image quality all in a compact design at a very competitive price."
Additional fax features of the FAXPHONE L120 include 15 one-touch speed dials, 100-coded speed dialing and broadcast dialing up to 150 separate locations. The device also has a directory search capability that allows users to look up and dial numbers using the LCD display.
The Canon FAXPHONE L120 offers USB interface with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP OS support and Canon's bundled printer driver for laser printing. Utilizing the Cartridge 104, Canon's single cartridge system designed to produce yields of up to 2,000 printouts per cartridge(4), the FAXPHONE L120 easily handles large volume demands with low maintenance requirements.
The Canon FAXPHONE L120 meets ENERGY STAR guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The EPA established the International ENERGY STAR Program in 1992 to help prevent global warming by promoting the development and use of energy-efficient products.
The Canon FAXPHONE L120 will be available through national retailers in late September at a suggested retail price of U.S. $299.
