Buy a PC now

Dell Dimension 8100If you are considering the purchase of a new PC, now's the time to buy. Thanks to deep cuts by Dell and Compaq, cheaper components, and Intel's death wish for AMD, desktop computer prices have been hacked by major PC -makers by as much as 22-percent. Right now, both Dell and Compaq are selling today's state-of-the-art systems with Pentium 4 processors, 128 MB of RAM, 20 GB Hard Drives and other goodies for under $1,300.

While I've rounded up two of the best prices on P4 systems, unless you are in dire need of the latest and greatest, I'd recommend shopping for a fully loaded Pentium 3 computer which, thanks to the recent price cuts, you should be able to snag for well under $1,000.
