X-treme Alerts Platform Generates Alerts on Subscribers' Wireless Phones
April 5, 2004 - 724 Solutions, a leading provider of next-generation IP-based network and data services, has deployed its X-treme Alerts Platform (XAP) with ALLTEL. The move not only adds to XAP's value as a subscriber alert mechanism, but also demonstrates a new and significant method for communicating with a carrier's wireless customer base.
724 Solutions' X-treme Alerts Platform acts on customer data to generate multi-channel alerts using automated voice via industry standard VXML (Voice Extensible Markup Language), and Short Messaging Service (SMS), using SMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer Protocol). The voice alerts provide ALLTEL's subscribers the ability to interact in real-time with the system using automated speech technologies. SMS Alerts provide guaranteed delivery to the subscribers' phone and contain an embedded customer service call back number.
"ALLTEL's deployment is an excellent example of how applications can be built atop XAP to generate new relationship opportunities with end-users," said John Sims, Chief Executive Officer of 724 Solutions. "These types of innovative applications promise to reduce subscriber churn and build revenue through the use of high quality, timely, personalized information delivered wirelessly."
XAP, part of 724 Solutions' X-treme Mobility Suite (XMS), allows mobile network operators to easily send highly personalized actionable alerting messages to its subscribers, including popular Short Message Service (SMS) and/or Multimedia Message Service (MMS) alerts. XAP is capable of increasing Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) through the delivery of a variety of actionable alert-oriented content including news, weather, sports information, and stock info. The service also supports other permission-based content such as dating service "hits", games, music, business opportunities and more.
"Mobile operators are compelled by an increasingly competitive marketplace to look for useful and fresh ways to bond with their customers. X-treme Alerts Platform is a versatile enabling technology for this purpose," noted X.J. Wang, Senior Analyst, Wireless/Mobile Technologies for the Yankee Group. "Its MMS, SMS and VXML formats provide a broad array of messaging options, giving operators great flexibility in how content in structured."
724 Solutions recently announced the availability of XAP on Linux in both hosted and licensed formats, delivering increased cost advantages to wireless carriers. To learn more, visit www.724.com.
