Toshiba Introduces Its Smallest, Brightest & Quietest Digital Projector
June 12, 2002 -- Moving to strengthen its worldwide leadership in the mobile computing market, Toshiba Computer Systems Group, a division of Toshiba American Information Systems, Inc., today introduced its new TDP-P5, the company's smallest, brightest and quietest digital projector.
By taking full advantage of Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology from Texas Instruments, the TDP-P5 yields stunning video reproduction and color clarity without compromising carrying weight or features. Bringing unparalleled portability to the executive traveler, the tiny projector weighs a mere 2.4 pounds, while sporting a foot print roughly comparable to an address book (2.5 x 6.0 x 7.7 inches), making it easy to slip inside an overnight bag or within a notebook computer case. Striking in its sleek magnesium alloy housing, the TDP-P5 is also durable enough to withstand the knocks and bumps associated with business travel.
FORTY PERCENT BRIGHTER THAN OTHER ULTRALIGHTS
Thanks to its True XGA resolution (1024x768), along with its powerful 1100
ANSI Lumen brightness, the TDP-P5 will dazzle audiences even in brightly-lit
rooms, providing smooth, detail-rich video, spreadsheets, charts and
color-coded graphs. The 1100 lumens are nearly forty percent more than
what's offered in other projectors in the ultralight category, which
typically provide the user with a disappointing 800 lumens.
ADVANCED CONNECTIVITY
Each presenter has his or her own style. That's why the TDP-P5 features the
advanced connectivity needed for maximum flexibility and freedom.
Presenters can choose to use DVD players, VCRs, and camcorders, as well as USB-equipped PC or Macintosh computers. The TDP-P5 supports worldwide video standards including NTSC, PAL, SECAM, PAL-M, PAL-N and HDCP, and accepts these signals from regular RCA inputs or S-VHS inputs. To create the utmost visual impact, the projector offers a Picture-in-Picture function that enables the moving video to be shown on top of data.
Other presentation enhancing features include digital keystone correction, manual zoom, a wireless remote control, a built-in 1-watt speaker system for delivering first-rate audio, and the technology needed to accurately adjust contrast, brightness and video color to match the requirements of a wide variety of lighting conditions.
ULTRA-QUIET OPERATION
Annoying buzzing from lesser quality projectors diminish the impact of a
presentation, distracting both the presenter and the audience alike. To
combat this problem, Toshiba engineered its new TDP-P5 projector to be
whisper-quiet.
The TDP-P5 has been documented to operate at a noise level of less than 32dB, or about half that of other projectors. With the TDP-P5, presenters will find there's no need to shut down the projector during Q & A discussions, and that its nearly silent operation greatly enhances audience attentiveness.
PRICING & AVAILABILITY
The Toshiba TDP-P5 will be available in August 2002 with an estimated street
price of $3,395 (U.S). It is backed by a two-year limited warranty on parts
and labor, and a 90-day warranty on its 2,000-hour, user-changeable lamp.
