Toshiba Helps Student Head Back to School with New Notebooks

June 15, 2004 - Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD) today introduced the Satellite A75 Series as the ideal back to school wireless, mobile PC solution. The innovative Satellite A75-S276, Satellite A75-S226 and Satellite A75-S206 notebook PCs combine productivity with home entertainment functionality to fit a busy student's lifestyle on campus, at home and on the road. Also perfect for families and consumers, the Satellite A75 Series handles most any multimedia applications for work or leisure.

Powerful Performance to Handle High-End Applications
Great for storing large data/video files and running processor-intensive applications, the Satellite A75-S276, Satellite A75-S226 and Satellite A75-S206 notebooks are complete mobile computers powered by the Intel Pentium 4 Processor, supporting Hyper-Threading Technology. The Hyper-Threading Technology allows for better system responsiveness and performance that is perfectly suited for viewing multiple documents, spreadsheets or web pages side-by-side, as well as analyzing large amounts of data. The units also include up to 80GB2 hard drive and 512MB of DDR SDRAM memory (depending on configuration) so users can save their data or video files quickly and easily.

Multimedia Enhancements
Whether on campus, at home or on the road, the Satellite A75 Series of notebook PCs are great portable entertainment devices. Users can watch movies on the crisp, 15.4-inch diagonal wide-screen display (1280x800), or listen to CDs and DVDs enhanced by SRS TruSurround XT technology, which delivers bass-thumping audio. The integrated ATI graphics, with up to 128MB of shared memory, ensures that users will enjoy vivid 3D-imagery and sharp colors that enhance the overall gaming experience.

For digital media enthusiasts, the Satellite A75-S276 and Satellite A75-S226 comes standard with a 5-in-1 bridge media adapter that can read and transfer files from Secure Digital, Multimedia Card, Memory Stick, XD media card and onboard i.Link (IEEE 1394) quickly and easily. The new notebook also enhances the mobile computing experience by including dedicated CD/MP3 keys so users can begin a movie or CD with a simple push of a button. Additionally, the Satellite A75-S276 and Satellite A75-S226 also feature an S-video (TV-out) port and function key that instantly transfers the display content to a TV screen without the hassle of using keyboard settings.

Get Connected
The Satellite A75-S276, Satellite A75-S226 and the Satellite A75-S206 feature built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) wireless connectivity for fast data transfer while downloading class notes, surfing the Internet or conducting research. Users can conveniently access the Internet via a wireless home network, wireless campus or public wireless LAN, making it even easier to take the notebooks anywhere, anytime. For wired environments, the units also include integrated 10/100 Ethernet for DSL and cable communications and a built-in V.92 modem.

Extensive Software Package
The Satellite A75 Series of notebook PCs are fully loaded with software designed for increased productivity including Microsoft Office OneNote digital note-taking software and Microsoft Works (with Microsoft Office 2003 trial version). Toshiba's ConfigFree software comes standard on all of Toshiba's wireless enabled notebook PCs. The pre-loaded software, targeted at networking novices and mobile professionals, enables the end user to find wireless communications problems, offers suggestions and creates profiles for easy switching between locations and communication networks. Extremely easy to use, ConfigFree automatically searches for the nearest hotspot or wireless LAN, and walks the user through the connection process. PC Diagnostic is included on the notebooks to help troubleshoot general computer issues and provide suggestions to resolve the situation.
