Titan Introduces VideoScout

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN) announced the release of VideoScout, a fully integrated, portable Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) system designed to capture, analyze, enhance, annotate, and relay video intelligence and data utilizing existing communication infrastructure. VideoScout allows military personnel to leverage valuable video-related assets generated by manned and unmanned vehicles, providing the capability to easily create derivative video to share, store, and retrieve for use in the theater of operations.

The VideoScout Solution: VideoScout is a portable, ruggedized PC system that includes Video Asset Management software and proven digital video and image processing board technology. VideoScout's video asset management software is a Windows(R)- based application that allows users to capture video along with system- generated metadata, such as GPS data, altitude, target location, time/date, etc., and view, store, analyze, annotate and forward relevant video to other locations. VideoScout's video asset management software is an easy to use, touch-screen application that allows military and intelligence personnel to "add knowledge" to existing video by finding, selecting, and annotating videos, clips, or frames of interest and pass on the most relevant data to other users.

In addition to providing the software to manage video assets, VideoScout also includes a powerful video image processing board to capture, compress/decompress and process the large volumes of analog and digital video data coming from manned and unmanned vehicle feeds and pre-recorded video data. VideoScout supports the military's move to digital video by using the MPEG-2 standard to process video. Complex video processing functions are performed directly on the board to avoid placing a burden on the overall system.

The VideoScout ruggedized PC Laptop is a powerful Pentium(R) mobile computer that meets stringent MIL-STD-801F standards. The laptop's magnesium casing and waterproof rubber keyboard withstand the demanding environmental challenges of field operations. Since the VideoScout laptop features the Windows operating system, training time is minimized, and personnel can be up and running with minimal effort. The 10/100 Base-T Ethernet provided with VideoScout is the primary communication vehicle, with an additional Ethernet port available on the video and image processing board for dual Ethernet support.
