SunCom Lets Customers Get Personal

June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Are you a little bit country or a little bit rock and roll? What's your sign?

SunCom, a member of the AT&T Wireless Network, is offering a new service that allows customers to download their favorite songs and pictures from the SunCom website to their wireless phone.

Ring tones are short clips of songs from every musical style and genre that can be downloaded to a phone to replace the standard ring tone. The service addresses the growing trend towards personalizing wireless phones with items like faceplates, graphics, and ring tones.

What started as fashion accessories or status symbols among teens and young adults in Europe has spread to America. In response, phone manufacturers now offer a wide variety of ring tone options, faceplate designs, and electronic graphics that appear on the phone screen when a call is received.

"SunCom recognizes that wireless phones are becoming an extension of users' personal style," said Steve McNulty, president of SunCom. "SunCom's Downloadable Ringtones and Graphics are the perfect answer for customers who want to express themselves with a song or graphic that has special meaning to them."

A free trial of the service is available by visiting the SunCom website, http://www.suncom.com/, where customers can download a ring tone based on the song "Good Day Sunshine." The trial lasts until September 17.

On the SunCom website, customers can preview over 1,200 ring tones and icons ranging from pop music hits and TV theme songs, to holiday graphics, nature scenes and sports images. There is also an area to create your own tones and graphics.

Ring tones and graphics cost $1 each. Customers can click on their selection and follow the instructions to download it to the phone. When the phone rings, customers will be able to see or hear the selected graphic or ring tone on their phone.
