Sprint Hosts Nationwide Voter Registration Drive in Sprint Stores July 16-18

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- As the nation gears up for political conventions and elections across the country, Sprint (NYSE: FON) will host a nationwide voter registration drive in more than 900 Sprint PCS, LTD and affiliate stores from Friday, July 16, to Sunday, July 18, 2004. During these dates, anyone who is eligible to register can visit Sprint stores and complete a registration card. Sprint is one of the first telecommunications providers to take this important service directly to consumers in more than 900 retail stores.

"Sprint does not expressly advocate the election or defeat of any candidate or party but understands that the right to vote is crucial," said Sheryl Wright, director - Government Affairs, Sprint. The program is also available to the 65,000 Sprint employees and their families nationwide.

The voter registration drive is part of a companywide Sprint effort announced in May to reinvent standards within the wireless industry and simplify the customer experience. By providing this important service in more than 900 Sprint Store locations the company hopes to show its commitment to customers and the communities it serves.

Additionally, customers can take advantage of Sprint's wireless technology to stay up-to-date on election coverage and returns. Sprint PCS Vision(SM) allows customers to access the Web. Sprint also offers MobiTV, the world's first live streaming television-content service delivered to mobile phones. MobiTV brings a stream of television content and features such as on/off, volume and channel changing to Sprint PCS Phones. It gives users easy, on-the-go access to visual and real-time information and entertainment from a mobile phone, nationwide.

Sprint customers also have the option of accessing 1KTV, a service that allows Sprint PCS Vision customers to watch up-to-date information and breaking news, finance, weather, sports and entertainment straight from their Sprint PCS Phones. 1KTV's real-time election coverage delivers election results as they happen. Complete campaign coverage follows election returns, offers a daily campaign diary, tracks major dates and convention delegates, and provides candidate biographies. 1KTV is a Java-based application that is downloaded to a Sprint PCS Vision Phone and, once opened on the handset, uses a slideshow format with streaming audio to provide news on-demand.
