Sony Ericsson and Cingular Wireless Launch the T61z

April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today announced the availability of the T61z, the first Sony Ericsson branded phone in the United States through an exclusive arrangement with Cingular Wireless. The T61z is featured in Cingular's Spider-Man promotion, highlighted through a variety of themed initiatives including Spider-Man faceplates, wallpaper and ring tones. "Sony Ericsson is thrilled to work with Cingular Wireless to launch the T61z, our first branded phone for the United States," said Bo Larsson, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Sony Ericsson, North America. Designed for professionals and consumers who are constantly using their phone, the T61z is feature-rich providing users with up to eight hours of talk time. The T61z features PC synchronization with a user's calendar and phone book, e-mail and two-way text and enhanced messaging services (EMS) for downloading graphics. The T61z also supports GPRS high speed data, so users can enjoy "always on" connectivity to the Mobile Internet. Rich features, such as the "Magic Word," allows users to choose a key word or phrase that, when spoken, assists the user in making voice-activated calls. Consumers will also have improved hands-free access to dial, answer and select menu options.

The T61z is available at Cingular stores in GSM markets and online at http://www.cingular.com/ for $39.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Through Cingular's Spider-Man promotion, which runs from April 2 to May 25, 2002, those who purchase the T61z may obtain the following Spider-Man themed items and accessories for their phones:

• Faceplates: Exclusive detachable faceplates featuring Spider-Man and the Green Goblin will be available for a limited time at Cingular stores and online at www.cingular.com for $29.99 each.
• Graphics: Custom-made downloadable graphics for the T61z featuring Spider-Man will be available at www.cingular.com/spideysense for a limited time.
• Ring tones: "Spidey-centric" ring tones featuring such classics as the theme from Spider-Man ("Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can ... ") are available for $.99 per download at www.cingular.com/spideysense.
