Sharp Now Shipping First 80-ppm Digital Document System

Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Electronics Corporation today announced that it is now shipping the AR-800 Digital IMAGER(TM), its first-ever 80 page-per-minute (ppm) digital "workhorse" multifunction machine and an ideal solution for busy networked office environments. The AR-800 is the latest product from Sharp's Digital IMAGER series of monochrome and color copier/printers. It provides both the advantages of digital technology and meets the high-volume copy/printing requirements of business. In addition, its "plug and play" capability integrates with networked systems, providing the connectivity that information technology professionals increasingly look for. With an optional embedded print controller, the AR-800 can also serve as a powerful workgroup printer, able to seamlessly connect to workstations across multiple network operating systems and protocols.

The AR-800 is currently available through Sharp's authorized dealers. Sharp dealers provide business and government customers with a full line of Sharp products, service and support throughout the U.S.

Key Features
Boasting one of the highest print resolutions in the industry, the AR-800 Digital IMAGER generates superior quality documents at 600 x 2400 DPI. Its feature highlights includes monthly volume capability of up to 440,000 copies.

With a standard 32 MB Copier Memory and 3.2 GB Hard Drive, the versatile AR-800 has the power and productivity to reduce manpower time spent on documents. Other highlights include 120 access codes, confidential/secure (PIN) printing capability and a heat roller fusing system.

Connectivity
With the optional embedded print controller and Network Interface Card, the AR-800 Digital IMAGER seamlessly upgrades from a powerful standalone copier to a superior, networkable document distribution system, ideal for environments ranging from large workgroups to small offices. Controller functions include access to print functions, finishing options, zoom ratios, and paper size, and the ability to track jobs directly from work desktops. Controller features include PCL5e(TM), PDLXL, Postscript Level II emulation, and MacIntosh(R) and UNIX(R) client support.
