Samsung Introduces Two New Laser Printers

New ML-1250 Offers High-End Personal Printing at an Affordable Cost and ML-1651N Gives Business Users a Powerful, Networkable Printing SolutionSeptember 24, 2001 – Business and home users alike now have two new affordable laser printer solutions that meet even the most demanding applications, the new ML-1250 and ML-1651N from Samsung. Perfect for the home and small office, the ML-1250 provides powerful and professional quality documents while cutting down on operational costs. The networkable ML-1651N is an ultra-reliable workhorse unit that is capable of handling the high volume of printing normally associated with a busy and growing business.

“Offering a full suite of affordable, high-quality laser printers for the home, SOHO and business markets is part of Samsung’s ongoing effort to be a leading brand and manufacturer in the printer marketplace,” states Rey Roque, Vice President of Marketing, for Samsung’s Digital Information technology Division, (DITD). “The enhanced ML-1250 and ML-1651N, which target the SOHO and medium-sized business markets, are strategic additions that expand and compliment our existing printer line.”

Features, Features, Features
Both the ML-1250 and ML-1651N feature Samsung’s unique one-touch toner save button that, when activated, reduces toner consumption by up to 40%, extending the life of the ML-1210’s 2,500 page toner cartridge to 3,500 pages and the ML-1651N’s 8,000 page toner cartridge to an astounding 11,000 pages! Each printer is also enabled with Samsung’s unmatched “N-up printing mode” which prints up to 16 pages of text on a single sheet of paper, generating an index sheet that can serve as a map for lengthy documents.

The ML-1250 and ML-1651N offer both parallel port and USB interfaces, allowing PC and Mac compatibility. Both printers are easy to install and are compatible with Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT4.0 or later, Linux Red Hat Version 6.0 or later, and Macintosh OS 8.0 and above.

ML-1250 Offers Enhanced Personal Printing
The 12 page-per-minute ML-1250 utilizes PCL6 emulation to print detailed graphics in a fraction of the time versus traditional laser printers. PCL (Printer Command Language) uses the printer’s 66MHz processor to generate the image instead of the computer’s processor. As a result, images and graphics are printed at the maximum resolution, providing high-quality output at much faster speed.

The ML-1250 offers 4MB of standard memory that can be expanded to 68MB. By increasing the amount of memory, users can produce higher quality text at faster rates of speed. The ML-1250 produces razor-sharp text consisting of 1200dpi (dots-per-inch) class resolution.

The ML-1250 features user-friendly controls that make it simple to select printer functions and eliminate the need to scroll through menus. At the touch of a button, you can reprint the last printed page -- even if the PC power has been turned off. There is also a cancel button that makes it simple to terminate a print job.

Paper jams won’t slow you down when using the ML-1250, thanks to Samsung’s paper jam-free technology. The printer is designed to easily accept a wide variety of paper stocks and sizes and has an extra sheet feeder for envelopes, labels, card stock or transparencies. There is also a universal paper input tray with a 150-sheet capacity.

ML-1651N Provides Network Connectivity
Designed to meet the demanding needs of small and mid-sized businesses, the ML-1651N is capable of network duty via its built-in 10/100 Base Tx network card. This allows businesses, small and large alike, the ability to connect several computers to one printer, saving on both the cost of purchasing several personal printers and the space needed to support many units.

The ML-1651N can produce 40,000 pages of text per-month for only about two cents per-page. It features a powerful 17 page-per-minute output rate, a built-in 166MHz processor, and a 1200 x 1200dpi resolution for ultra-sharp, crisp images. The unit comes equipped with 16MB of standard memory that can be increased to 144MB for increased speed and print quality.

The ML-1651N is also equipped with an extraordinarily large 550-sheet universal cassette tray. In addition, a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray, which is capable of handling a variety of paper sizes, also comes standard with the printer. Samsung also offers an optional 550-sheet second cassette feeder that has the ability to print up to 200 envelopes.
