Royal Upgrades its Linea Personal Digital Assistants for 2003

June 2003-- Royal Consumer Information Products, a recognized leader in affordable office and consumer electronic products, is upgrading two popular Linea PDA models to include all of the features found in high-end products as well as expanded capacity and high-end spelling and language features, all at extremely competitive prices.

The Linea32 (retail price of $129.99) is the perfect PDA for anyone who needs a lot of information available at his or her fingertips. With 32MB of memory, a built-in 56K dial-up modem and an e-mail client that allows users to send and receive industry-standard POP3 e-mail directly from the Linea32, Royal sets new price/performance standards for affordable handheld devices. For amazing added value, Royal has added a speller and translator program on the CD Software disc that comes included with the device, so users have the option of downloading those applications into this new, high-capacity model.

The Linea32 is equipped with a large (61mm X 79mm) high-resolution (160x200) RoyalGlo backlit LCD display. For speed and flexibility, the central processing unit (CPU) has been optimized for ultra low power consumption and operates at speeds of up to 40 megahertz to easily handle even the most demanding applications.

The Linea10 comes with a richly featured e-mail client as well as a built in dial-up modem that allows users to send and receive e-mail directly from the unit itself, no PC required! An optional snap-on serial module (sold separately, estimated street retail $39.99) allows Linea10 users to also send and receive e-mail wirelessly using their cell phones, along with the serial connection cable available from the respective cell phone manufacturer. This allows users to avoid additional expensive wireless fees.

The Linea32 has been designed with industry-standard POP3 connectivity allowing buyers to use the built-in 56K modem and their existing ISP's to send and receive e-mail. The Linea32 comes with Royal's new PDA Desktop PC software, powered by CompanionLink Software Inc., allowing users to synchronize the Linea32 with a PC so they can take their telephone book, calendar, schedule and to-do list with them wherever they go. The Linea32 comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery.

The Linea32 handheld contains the following useful features: Natural Handwriting Recognition with on-screen shortcuts, telephone/address book, schedule planner with calendar, anniversary feature, expense manager, to-do lists, memo book, calculator with metric and currency conversion, world clock, games, the ability to download applications, and multi-lingual operation. It offers four ways to enter data:

  • On-screen touch panel keyboard
  • Handwriting recognition using natural handwriting
  • Synchronization with Royal's new, PDA Desktop personal information manager (PIM) and CompanionLink Software for synchronization with Microsoft Outlook, Act! Goldmine, Lotus Organizer or Palm Desktop Software.
  • Optional folding Linea keyboard (sold separately)

Additionally, the Linea32's handwriting area is a virtual one, visible only when entering information; with this virtual screen system the user has the ability to have a bigger viewing area and see more data on the screen when simply viewing information. For viewing comfort, the Linea32 offers adjustable screen fonts.

The Linea32 comes with a desktop cradle, rechargeable, removable lithium ion battery and separate AC/DC adapter. The battery is recharged using the AC/DC adapter, which is completely portable. Simply plug in the AC/DC adapter and recharge the Linea's lithium battery anywhere. The cradle, or optional, extra cost, accessories are not required. The Linea32 can also run directly from AC/DC power so it is possible to be operating the Linea32 and, at the same time, be recharging the battery. Additional lithium ion batteries can be purchased separately and can be easily installed by the user to insure continuous power when traveling.

Linea10 - The Ultimate in PDA Value
With a retail price of $69.99, Royal's Linea10 takes PDA value to a new level. Out of the box, it's a state-of-the-art PDA with 10MB of memory, rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, handwriting recognition, RoyalGlo(tm) backlit 160x160 display and an upgradeable operating system that is stored in the unit's flash memory. The program CD included with Linea10 also offers downloadable spelling and translation programs.

With its built-in e-mail client and the addition of Royal's optional 56K modem module (sold separately), the Linea10 can send and receive industry-standard POP3 e-mail. Cell phone users can order the optional snap-on serial module, instead of the optional modem module to send and receive e-mail using serial connection cables available from the cell phone manufacturer. Users will be able to use their existing ISP's so there is no need for a separate and expensive wireless carrier.

If all of that were not enough, the Linea10 also comes with all of the same time saving features included with the Linea32. Data can also be entered in the same four ways as on the Linea32.

The Linea10 features a flip-top cover that protects the screen and keeps it scratch free, three styluses, CD with PDA Desktop PC Software from CompanionLink Software Inc. and personal information manager. An AC/DC adapter is included. It can be used to charge the battery or allow the Linea10 to operate on direct AC power.
