Restorion Announces Automatic Data Protection for Business TravelersMarch 2004 — Restorion, paving the Path to Data Salvation, recently announced the release of Glorio, an automatic, online backup service for personal computer files that is designed especially to support the needs of business travelers and laptop owners. “We offer our clients 24-hour, 7-day-a-week online backup and recovery, along with the tools to manage the process,” says Restorion President and Co-Founder TQ White II. “Our goal is to help people and their computers get on the ‘Path to Data Salvation’ by providing ultra-secure off-site servers, effortless automatic backup and immediate data retrieval at any time.” White believes on-line back-up truly is a better way to protect and manage data compared to other methods such as tape, CD, DVD and Zip, which are all complicated and unreliable unless supported with a great deal of management. White notes that airport security has become much more intrusive. Laptops are handled more and are more frequently damaged. This combines with other opportunities for damage and theft to make laptop backup a high priority. Unfortunately, the server-oriented backup solutions used by most companies do not serve laptop users well. In contrast, on-line backup is managed and executed by the users’ computer working directly with Restorion’s off-site servers. The beauty of this, according to White, is that travelers don’t have to wait until they can return - and then have time to execute backup with the home office system. Work done on the road can be backed up frequently to minimize the risk of data loss. Of course, files can also be restored while on the road as well. Glorio encrypts all data before it leaves the user’s computer for transit over the Internet and is stored in that encrypted form on ultra-secure servers. The encryption is based on a 448-bit encryption key. In addition, the servers are located at highly fortified offsite facilities to ensure data safety regardless if a laptop or desktop computer is lost, stolen or destroyed. Restorion charges $36 per compressed gigabyte per month. For more information on Restorion, visit www.datasalvation.com. []Similar
