Razor Unveils Fastest, Smallest Pocket PC
Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Partnering with famed scooter maker Razor USA, Zayo Technologies, today introduced its first Pocket PC on the market: the Razor Zayo Pocket PC -- targeting executives, young professionals and gadget lovers alike. The newest of the next generation PDAs, Zayo is the fastest, smallest and lightest Pocket PC, with a 30 percent longer battery life than any other Pocket PC on the market today.
"People have come to expect cutting-edge innovation, superb engineering and sleek design from Razor, and the new Razor Zayo meets the gold standards of the Razor brand," says Jonathan Tseng, Vice President of ASUSTek Computer Inc. "The Zayo raises the bar for the handheld computer."
The Zayo combines Razor's cool cache with the muscle of Intel's most powerful processor -- the Xscale processor. Here's what makes the Zayo the best Pocket PC out there:
Power. The Zayo is the only Pocket PC to fully maximize the capacity of its 400 MHz Intel PXA-250 processor. With 32 MB of Flash ROM and 64 MB SDRAM to boot, Zayo puts the strength of a desktop computer in the palm of your hand.
Video. At 54 frames per second (fps), Zayo video blows away the next-best Pocket PC's herky-jerky capabilities by 27 fps. Zayo gives users DVD-like video in real time, all the time.
Brightness. Zayo's bright LCD touch screen creates an explosion of 65,536 colors while keeping power consumption at a trickle. That means clearer images, less eyestrain, and a smoother, longer-running handheld.
Size. Weighing in at less than five ounces and sized to go (4.9 x 2.9 x .5 inches), this lightweight champ is the smallest in the Pocket PC market -- making pocket calculators seem bulky.
Battery Life. Zayo's standard rechargeable, lithium polymer battery provides up to 12 hours of use. With the addition of the optional battery bank, Zayo's battery life can be extended to more than 20 hours of use.
With Zayo's innovative Run Modes, it will only kick up the juice when needed, giving it a 30 percent longer battery life than any other Pocket PC. If watching movies or gaming, Zayo will flex its power in "Turbo Mode." In text-based applications like Word and Excel, Zayo will keep battery consumption down in "Power Saving Mode."
A unique Compact Flash (CF) card sleeve also enables Zayo to be much more than a PDA. Slip on any CF-compatible device and Zayo becomes a mobile phone, GPS device, digital camera, WiFi, scanner, and more. Remove the sleeve and Zayo is the slim-and-trim accessory every business traveler and gadget guru wants.
Zayo comes with Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 OS software, featuring familiar programs that can be synchronized with a desktop PC at the touch of a button. Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC, Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Microsoft Reader 2.0 for Pocket PC, Windows Media Player 8 for Pocket PC, MSN Messenger, Microsoft Transcriber, Terminal Services Client, Note Taker, Voice Recorder and ActiveSync 3.5 are all included on Razor Zayo's hard drive. A CD with Microsoft ActiveSync v3.5, Microsoft Outlook 2002 and Jukebox 6.0 is also included with each product.
"Making the best-functioning products has never been enough for us here at Razor," says Razor USA president Carlton Calvin. "Whether it's a scooter or an Intel-powered PDA, it's not a Razor unless it sports the very best in cutting edge technology and design. Razor Zayo is guaranteed to turn heads."
The Zayo will be available at Office Depot, Staples, BestBuy.com and other quality retailers across the United States in mid-October 2002. The suggested retail price for the Zayo is $549.99 ($499.99 with $50 rebate). The Zayo Executive Package, priced at $649.99 ($599.99 with $50 rebate) includes a portable cradle with CF slot, a built-in second battery, a CF to PC card adaptor, a desk stand and stylus. True to the Razor brand philosophy of developing innovative, youthful products, the Zayo will cater to mountain bikers, hikers and road trippers when the Zayo enthusiast line hits store shelves in the coming months.
