PrinterOn delivers wireless document handling for the Palm i705 handheld

Award-winning viewing and printing software allows users of new wireless Palm handheld to view, fax and print email attachments Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ - PrinterOn today announced that the new Palm(TM) i705 handheld computer from Palm, Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM), the leading provider of handheld computers, will offer wireless Internet document viewing, faxing and printing via PrinterOn PocketWhere for the Palm OS(R) platform.

The two companies will engage in co-marketing activities to promote the i705's new functionality and the revolutionary PrinterOn application for Palm OS.

"Document viewing, faxing and printing from handhelds is a major productivity concern for mobile professionals," said Kevin Hell, senior vice president of product management, Solutions Group, at Palm, Inc. "PrinterOn's breakthrough solution eliminates these hassles, so it is an ideal software complement for the growing base of Palm handheld and Palm OS customers."

PrinterOn PocketWhere for Palm OS(R) will be integrated into the MyPalm(TM) portal, accessible via the new Palm i705 wireless handheld as part of the Palm.Net(R) wireless service. The application takes advantage of the Palm i705 handheld's built-in wireless capability by allowing users to view, fax and print documents and email attachments. With PrinterOn's award-winning software, wireless Palm handheld users can output documents in black and white or full color to networked printers - regardless of where they're located or who makes them. PrinterOn supports more than 150 file formats.

Also available at http://www.palm.com/wireless/apps/ and http://palm.printeron.net/, PrinterOn PocketWhere for Palm OS will be integrated into the MyPalm portal, offering a link to the PrinterOn service and a 60-day trial subscription. The Palm i705 handheld, announced today, is scheduled to be (x)available in February 2002.

"We are enhancing the entire concept of workforce mobility -- providing Palm wireless handheld users with the means to conveniently view and output documents, wherever they have wireless access," said Steve Spicer, CEO and President of PrinterOn Corporation. "We believe that the next phase of handheld growth will be driven by value-added enterprise software solutions that produce immediate benefits for individual users and measurable ROI for corporate IT decision makers."

Close to 40 percent of all emails contain attachments, and 42 per cent of the information included in attachments needs same-day action. Industry experts say attachment handling is a serious productivity issue for mobile professionals.

PrinterOn PocketWhere is available for individual users via PrinterOn's hosted ASP Service, and to enterprise customers via PrinterOn's Enterprise Server.

PrinterOn will demonstrate the benefits of the combined solution at the PalmSource(R) Conference and Expo, Booth No. 65, February 5-8, at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, CA (www.palmsource.com); and at DEMO2002, Feb 10-12, at the Hilton Tapatio Hills Resort in Phoenix, AZ (http://www.idgexecforums.com/demo/).
