Princeton Digital Introduces 18" Value LCD Display

February 26, 2003 — Building on the award-winning success of their SENergy line of LCD monitors, Princeton Graphic Systems, Inc., introduces the VL1812. The 18.1" active matrix TFT display’s XGA (1024 x 768) native resolution maximizes text viewing for many applications. Princeton Graphics, the first manufacturer to commercially offer a digital flat panel, is now shipping the VL1812 with a suggested retail price of $599.00.

The VL1812 display features include:

  • 18.1" TFT Active Matrix LCD
  • XGA 1024 x 768 Optimum Resolution
  • 150° Super Wide Viewing Angle
  • 16.7 Million True Colors
  • Plug and Play Ready
  • VESA FPMPMI Compliant wall/arm Mounting Interface
  • Self-Diagnostic Screen
  • Energy Star Compliance
  • A Three-Year Limited Warranty

"With the VL1812’s native resolution of 1024 x 768, we’ve answered the requests from both retailers and consumers for a good-size LCD that can display text in a large sizes without sacrificing quality," noted William Wang, president. "Quality large size text viewing has been problematic for those using proprietary retail P.O.S., medical, automotive and financial applications developed for XGA display. Other large LCD displays that have a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA) need to scale these applications to their bit-mapped pixel needs. The negative results of this scaling are bulky soft text, pictures with jagged edges and eyestrain for users. With the VL1812 we can offer the larger size of an 18" display, while maintaining image quality and still offer significant value," Wang concluded.

Princeton’s 18" VL1812 sets-the-pace for their Digital Value Line which will soon include a 17" and 15" offering as well. Compatible with PC, UNIX, Apple Macintosh, PowerMac, Windows, and high-resolution third-party graphics standards, the display meets all major emission and power management standards, including EPA Energy Star, FCC-B, CSA (CUL), UL1950, TUV/GS and CE. Princeton Digital displays are backed by a three-year parts, one-year labor and backlight warranty.
