Plantronics Headsets Provide Hands-Free Flexibility for Windows-Powered Smartpho

April 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Plantronics announced that it is working with Compal Electronics, Inc. to bring the advantages of hands-free communications to Microsoft Windows-powered Smartphones. Plantronics headsets are included with Smartphones from Compal, which is now shipping a handset based on Microsoft Smartphone software.

The Plantronics headset improves the Smartphone's functionality by providing advantages inherent to a hands-free lifestyle. "Combining a Plantronics headset with a Smartphone allows users to take advantage of a variety of functions, such as Pocket Outlook or Pocket Internet Explorer, that require users to view the screen while they're talking," said Joyce Shimizu, Plantronics vice president of strategic portfolio and product management.

The Compal Windows-powered Smartphone enhances both voice communications and text messaging, and is the ideal companion for the workstyle and lifestyle of the mobile professional.

"Windows-powered mobile devices are the most expandable on the market, giving customers more choices to add the specific capabilities they need," said Jonas Hasselberg, product manager for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "Compal has capitalized on that inherent expandability, making a high-quality choice for its customers by providing them with Plantronics headsets."
