Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Parachute Technologies announced today that Parachute(TM) III is available for immediate delivery. Users can easily attach Parachute to the back of a Palm III, insert the appropriate PC Card, and experience wireless Internet and email capability from anywhere. "This is the beginning of a new era for Palm users worldwide," states Scottie Jack, President and CEO of Parachute Technologies. "We have been perfecting this technology for several years and now it's a reality. We're fulfilling our initial orders and the feedback is incredible. Interest is very strong for the Parachute III all over the world," said Mr. Jack. "We have been actively seeking distributors for the international market and are very close to signing several agreements. Everyone is excited about the product."

Parachute III is a small, thin adapter that clips on the back of a Palm III (excluding Palm IIIc) and has a slot for Type II PC Cards and Compact Flash (CF) Cards using a CF to PC Card Converter. Parachute III is compatible with Novatel Wireless Merlin CDPD PC Card modem and Sierra Wireless CDMA 510 AirCard (for Sprint). These wireless PC Cards provide nationwide Internet access. Users can choose between the nationwide wireless carriers of AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.

Parachute III is available for immediate delivery at http://www.parachutetech.com . The price for the Parachute III is $149.00 and the PC Cards and service are sold separately.

Parachute currently works with the Viking 56k dial-up PC Card modem, Cardinal fax modem, Apex analog cellular modem, Megahertz modem and Hi Val modem. The list is rapidly growing as new drivers are written by manufacturers anxious to reach the millions of Palm III users. Software developers can request an API and create a driver to fit their specific PC Card application. Additional PC Cards supported by Parachute III will be posted on the Parachute Technologies website.

Parachute Technologies also reports that they will release a version for the HandEra 330 in November. Parachute V for Palm V is scheduled for delivery in late December and the Parachute for Palm m-505 is expected to be available first quarter of 2002. Other handhelds using the Palm O/S are currently in development.
