Panasonic Introduces 2.4GHZ Cordless Phone for Businesses

October, 2001 --Panasonic introduces the KX-TGA420B, the company's first 2.4GHz wireless desk telephone designed to work with its proprietary KX-TG2000B or KX-TG4000B Multi-Handset Cordless Phone Systems. "The new KX-TGA420B system telephone is an easy way for users of the KX-TG2000B or KX-TG4000B telephone systems to add full-featured telephone extensions," says Frank Lasorsa, Assistant General Manager, Panasonic's Communications/Home Office Products Division. "Because the telephone base is wireless, set-up couldn't be easier."

The new KX-TGA420B looks and acts like a traditional desk telephone -with standard features such as Transfer, Intercom and Conference- but with a true advantage: the telephone wirelessly connects to the KX-TG2000B or KX-TG4000B telephone systems, no phone jack required. The KX-TGA420B offers up to four-line operation, and up to seven of these units can be added to either telephone system.

The new Panasonic cordless station unit takes advantage of the ultra-clear 2.4GHz Frequency Band* and Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) Digital Operation, enabling the KX-TGA420B to transmit or "spread" its signal over many frequencies per second, helping to assure private conversation.

For hands-free calling, a built-in Digital Duplex Speakerphone is located on the base of the telephone. This digital circuitry helps reduce the echo and dropout commonly found in conventional speakerphones, resulting in crystal-clear, hands-free conversations.

When used in conjunction with Subscriber Call Waiting (SCWID) Caller ID,** the three-line LCD display, located on the base of the telephone, will show each caller's name and telephone number without additional scrolling. Backlighting on the LCD greatly aids visibility, especially in low light. Also viewable via the base display is Caller ID memory for later review with instant callback capability. The base unit can store up to 50 callers' names and numbers.

An included navigator key helps simplify telephone programming and operation, while an included headset jack, for an optional headset, allows hands-free operation.

Ideal for use in a small office or home setting, the KX-TG2000B and KX-TG4000B are telephone systems that offer the ease-of-use of plug-and-play set-up and can interface with up to eight cordless handsets with full PBX functions available to each. When integrated with the KX-TG2000B or KX-TG4000B phone system, the KX-TGA420B gives users access to an all-digital true Voice Mail System with 100-minute capacity and auto attendant. Users benefit from a separate voice mailbox and individual greeting that's provided for each corded or cordless handset in the system, and have simultaneous access to voice mail regardless of other phone lines in use. The KX-TG2000B and KX-TG4000B let you call any station from the base unit or "page" them all at once. And a three-way conferencing capability lets you link, for example, two extensions with an outside call or two outside calls with an internal line.

The KX-TGA420B cordless station unit is powered by a high-capacity Nickel Metal Hydride battery, which offers twice the capacity in comparison to Panasonic standard Nickel Cadmium rechargeable batteries.

The KX-TGA420B is currently available with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $179.95.
