New Panasonic Multi-Function Fax
September, 2001--The new Panasonic KX-FLM551 multi-function laser facsimile maximizes small office and home office productivity with its flexibility and multi-tasking capabilities. "With the new KX-FLM551, Panasonic has created one essential office
machine that users can rely on for a variety of tasks," says Frank
Lasorsa,
assistant general manager, Facsimile Department, Panasonic's
Communications/Home Office Products Division. "This compact
multi-function
laser facsimile gives users the advantages of a laser printer, scanner,
enhanced copier and built-in telephone with the ease of jog dial
operation -and it will easily fit on a desk or office shelf."
More cost-effective than an ink jet model, the KX-FLM551 multi-function laser printer takes the most-used office machines and places them in a single, space-saving, highly-durable unit. The new Panasonic multi-function model includes:
Compact Plain Paper Fax with Quick Scan: As a stand-alone fax machine, the KX-FLM551 is equipped with a 100-station auto dialer for sequential broadcasting, enabling users to store up to 100 numbers in memory and then broadcast the same document to multiple recipients at the press of a button. A high-speed 14.4k bps modem ensures fast transmission of documents being faxed. The jog dial simplifies routine programming tasks and also helps users conveniently access and place a call to numbers programmed into memory. Scroll up or down through the directory until the desired name or number appears in the 16-character LCD display, lift the handset, and the number will automatically dial. When using the new Quick Scan feature, documents placed in the document feeder will be rapidly scanned into the fax machine's memory and then faxed to the recipient. For fax reception, the machine's laser printing engine creates crisp, high-quality plain-paper documents with 64 shades of halftone resolution at 600 dpi, while a 150-page document memory (2Mb) capability serves as an effective back-up measure should the machine run out of paper as a document is being received. Other fax features include a 15-page document feed, a 150-sheet paper tray and a Fax Pager Call feature that alerts the user's pager should a fax come in. This model also includes Automatic Fax/Phone Switching and Distinctive Ring detection for distinguishing between incoming fax and telephone calls. Copier: This new model features an enhanced copier function that lets users enlarge or reduce an original document. The copier can also sort and collate multi-page, multi-document jobs of up to 99 copies from one original. Scanner: When connected to a personal computer via a parallel cable, the unit's capabilities multiply. Create memos, reports or others documents on a standard PC. Then, to enhance these documents, use the model's scanner capability to import pictures, line art or signatures at 600x600 dpi. And as an added bonus, the unit includes OCR-Read-Iris 5.5 PRO (full version) software, which recognizes text in up to 55 different languages. PC Printer: The KX-FLM551 also serves as a high-speed laser printer, capable of printing up to ten pages per minute with 600x600 dpi resolution. The paper tray can hold up to 150 letter- or legal-size sheets. Telephone: For making phone calls while waiting for a fax to be sent, the KX-FLM551 includes a full-feature telephone with a monitor speaker, electronic phone directory and volume control. The telephone can store up to 10 one-touch dial numbers and has room for up to 100 speed dial numbers. "The new KX-FLM551 is the ideal office companion," notes Lasorsa. "It can accomplish a number of tasks well while taking up minimum space." The Panasonic KX-FLM551 will be available in November, 2001 at a suggested retail price of $419.95.
