New HP Digital Flatbed Scanner Offers Increased Productivity and Performance

Feb. 3, 2003 -- HP today introduced the HP Scanjet 5550c digital flatbed scanner that delivers professional-quality results with 2400 dpi and 48-bit color depth for business-focused activities. To assist with business productivity, the new scanner features an automatic document feeder (ADF) allowing users to scan up to 35-pages, unattended, with speeds up to eight pages per minute.

For people interested in increasing their efficiency, the HP Scanjet 5550c scanner includes ScanSoft PaperPort software to help streamline the electronic storage of documents. They also have the ability to archive information and save hard disk space by using the scan-to-CD feature. With the Hi-speed USB connection, they can preview scans in about seven seconds and quickly send them to the computer.

To make any project easy, front-panel buttons provide quick access to seven software functions including scan, post to hpphoto.com, HP Memories Disc Creator, email, copy, power save and cancel. Featuring OCR software, the HP Scanjet 5550c scanner automatically optimizes and converts documents to electronic text, allowing users to quickly edit text without retyping the entire document.

This versatile scanner also ships with HP Memories Disc Creator software, which allows users to create digital slide shows and view them on a computer or TV via a DVD player; and HP Photo & Imaging software, a convenient and easy-to-use application for all of HP's digital imaging products.
