NEC Technologies Ships New GT Series Projectors

GT950(TM) Offers Greatest Horizontal And Vertical Lens Shift of Any Projector to Date; GT2150(TM)'s 4:3 SXGA Resolution and CRT-Like Image Quality Conquer Demanding Projection Environments Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Technologies (Nasdaq: NIPNY) is now shipping the newest and most versatile GT Series projectors yet, the GT950 and GT2150. The GT950 features the most impressive horizontal and vertical lens shift of any projector to date, and is the first desktop/fixed installation projector capable of both portrait and landscape projection. The GT2150 provides precise yet versatile projection power to facilities requiring a high native resolution and exceptional data and video capability.

"NEC's new GT Series projectors empower users to meet their desktop and fixed installation projection needs like never before," said Don Fasick, projector product manager at NEC Technologies for Visual Systems. "The GT950's extreme lens shift allows users to project in spaces that couldn't previously accommodate projection due to unchangeable features such as room shape or unmovable obstructions. The GT2150 gives users the power to handle demanding applications requiring SXGA native resolution, high brightness and CRT-like image quality. And both projectors give users the ability to save time, money and manpower by monitoring projector status from anywhere via their networking options."

The GT950 is perfect for users in the corporate, government and educational markets with unique installation requirements resulting from room environments that can't be changed. Its revolutionary design allows for horizontal lens shift of 55% from the center of the screen and vertical shift of 85% from the center of the screen, allowing for square images from extreme off-center projection angles without keystoning. The projector is also unique in that it can be flipped on its side to project in portrait orientation in those instances where a longer, narrower image is desirable, or when the projector needs to fit in a narrow space such as a shelf. Additionally, the GT950 comes equipped with a PC card viewer that lets users present without the need for a laptop, and a DVI-I input for additional flexibility and protection from obsolescence.

The GT2150 was developed for high resolution fixed installation environments such as medical imaging, government, military, aviation, and command and control applications where image quality and broad signal capability are of critical importance. Its compact form factor also makes it an ideal replacement to bulky, traditional CRT projectors.

With features such as horizontal and vertical lens shift, double stackability, power zoom and focus, a compact form factor for easy moveability, HDTV compatibility, and a DVI-D input, the GT2150 provides unparalleled flexibility. The GT2150 also uses the same lenses as the GT1150 projector, allowing users to save money by upgrading to a higher resolution without additional lens purchases. It additionally features telecine 3:2 pull-down and the ability to run both 4:3 and 5:4 images without blending for incredible image quality.

With an optional network interface PC card, both the GT950 and GT2150 give users the ability to monitor projector status and control common functions from down the hall or across the country via a Web browser interface. Users can monitor lamp time from a remote location and thus be aware of when lamp changes are needed or when the projector needs repairs, as well as turn projectors on and off remotely.

The GT950 and GT2150 incorporate several NEC Technologies proprietary features, including Eco-Mode(TM) lamp-saving technology, a lower light output option that extends lamp life, reducing lamp replacement costs with a minimal decrease in light output. NEC's AutoSense(TM) Technology allows for automatic setup and one-touch adjustments. And with Advanced AccuBlend(TM) Intelligent Pixel Blending Technology, the new projectors provide outstanding compatibility with virtually every computer and video source up to UXGA resolution. NEC's VORTEX Technology(TM) provides data and graphic displays with superior color uniformity and contrast, and video displays with greater depth, detail, brighter whites and more realistic colors. The GT950 additionally features VORTEX Technology Plus(TM), which adds increased color correction capabilities and sRGB control, giving users the ability to tailor the image to their liking.
