NEC Debuts New Flagship LCD Flat Panel Monitor

April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Setting a precedent in LCD monitor intelligence, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc., the number one vendor of flat panel desktop displays, today announced the new 18-inch NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX monitor with the industry's most extensive suite of advanced features. Encased in a new minimalist cabinet design, the NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX enables end-users to leverage control of the monitor and IT administrators to enhance their productivity by remotely diagnosing, controlling, and tracking the monitor through an existing network. With NEC- Mitsubishi Electronics Display's proprietary long cable technology, the new LCD monitor can be accessed from a distant control room without compromising image quality or interrupting end-users' work environments."To gain a competitive edge in this challenging economic climate, companies are focused on improving their productivity by leveraging the connectivity of corporate networks to further enable their workforce," said Ross Young, president of Display Search. "The industry's next generation of desktop displays will be smart-monitors like NEC-Mitsubishi's new NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX, allowing IT departments to manage multiple monitor environments more efficiently and effectively. For end-users, these intelligent monitors also provide additional control over the computing experience and eliminate the need for disruptions by IT personnel who previously accessed the monitor settings from the user buttons on the display."

The NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX is one of the first LCD monitors to utilize a Display Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) function for remote diagnostics and control of the unit through a local area network or signal cable. It is the premier LCD monitor to enable display settings to be controlled by an end-users' mouse or keyboard using the company's exclusive NaViSet software based on the DDC/CI protocol. In addition, the NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX pioneers NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's new CableComp technology for the prevention of image degradation from cables up to 100 meters/1326 feet long -- automatically compensating for video signal delays and irregular red, green and blue cable transmissions.

The NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX complements modern office environments that require easy-to-use functionality with a new streamlined cabinet design in white with brushed aluminum bezel or black. By introducing an ultra thin- frame bezel that measures less than 13mm on all sides of the screen, the new model reduces users' horizontal desktop space by 28 percent compared to previous NEC LCD thin-frame monitors.

"NEC-Mitsubishi is proud to extend its LCD desktop display expertise to a wide variety of specialized customers, positioning organizations to take advantage of their existing networks for simplified monitor management. Our breadth of advanced features will allow users to increase their productivity and maximize the return on a company's hardware investment," said Todd Fender, product manager at NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. "With an extensive suite of new capabilities that transform the way businesses use monitors, NEC-Mitsubishi fulfills its objective of engineering and designing the industry's most intelligent LCD displays."

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display launches its new automatic black level adjustment function with the NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX, heightening users' visual experience through control of the display's grayscale images. A rapid total response time of 33ms virtually eliminates ghosting and image trailing from video applications, providing users with a more accurate viewing experience. The monitor also includes an AutoBright function that automatically adjusts brightness intensity levels for optimal readability, reduced eyestrain and additional power savings. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display furthers its power management features with a new automatic power-off timer and high-efficiency backlight that significantly reduces the power consumption and heat generation at the front of the bezel.

With NEC's XtraView+ wide-angle viewing technology, the NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX monitor provides a viewing angle of 170 degrees horizontally and vertically, 85 degrees from the center of the monitor. The newest LCD monitor pivots easily, allowing users to view spreadsheets, word processing and presentations in either landscape or portrait modes. Utilizing NEC's upgraded Ambix+ triple-input technology for up to two simultaneous analog or digital inputs, the NEC MultiSync LCD1880SX accepts a Digital Video Interface (DVI-I) connector for digital or analog input, a DVI-D connector for digital- only input, and a 15-pin VGA connector for legacy analog-only connection.
