'My Alerts' Helps Keep Gateway PCs in Top Condition

Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE:GTW) today announced My Alerts, a free program that notifies customers when updated drivers and BIOS are available for their PCs, so they can more quickly and easily optimize the performance of their system. My Alerts is the latest addition to a robust suite of Internet-based customer support products including asset management, technical and customer service.

"My Alerts gives our business and consumer customers peace of mind by knowing Gateway is watching out for them by pro-actively sending them the latest driver and BIOS updates to keep their PCs running at top efficiency at a time when we're all looking to be more productive."

To request alerts, Gateway customers register their PC serial numbers at http://support.gateway.com/support/alerts/default.asp. When updated data is available, an email is sent to the customer notifying them and linking them to a Gateway.com location for downloads. Customers can select daily, weekly or monthly notifications.

In January, My Alerts will expand to include updates to user's manuals, a frequently asked questions section and the functionality for customers to enter multiple serial numbers.

In addition to My Alerts, Gateway features a host of Internet-based customer support tools including:

  • Asset Management -- A free, web-based tool that allows IT managers to more efficiently track and maintain technology inventories.
  • Support Information -- Troubleshooting information is available along with FAQs and product information.
  • Technical Support -- Customers can contact a Gateway representative via e-mail, chat or phone for support or service.
  • Account Information -- Customers can create and update their web site account.
