Maxtor Triples Storage Capacity for USB 2.0 External Hard Disk Drive Family

New 120GB Model Gives Consumers Highest Capacity and Easiest Connectivity
Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxtor Corporation (NYSE: MXO) today announced it has tripled the storage capacity of its Personal Storage 3000LE external hard disk drive family, which uses the faster USB 2.0 interface. The new 120GB model features the industry's highest capacity point for USB 2.0 storage devices and allows creative professionals, business and home users to easily add additional storage without opening up their computers.

The Personal Storage 3000LE family, which also includes a 40GB model, is ideal for backing up or archiving large files such as digital photos, audio clips, graphics, home videos and electronic games. The convenience of the USB interface allows users to easily transport large files between multiple systems. Older PCs can also be easily upgraded to USB 2.0 with Maxtor's PCI Adapter Card.

USB 2.0 allows easy connectivity with virtually all-existing USB ports including backward compatibility with USB 1.1. To help users upgrade previous-generation desktop and laptop computers and PCs to USB 2.0 performance, Maxtor offers a USB 2.0 PCI Adapter Card for $49.95 MSRP that features four external and one internal high speed ports.

Available in early February through Maxtor's network of nationwide retailers, as well as the company's on-line store, MaxtorDirect.com, the 120GB Personal Storage 3000LE has a suggested retail price of $299.95. The 40GB Personal Storage model is priced at $199.95 MSRP.
