Logitech's Cordless Presenter Takes Center Stage
"Logitech has over ten years of experience in developing cordless devices. In addition to our popular 27MHz radio technology for the desktop, we have been active supporters of Bluetooth connectivity. We are taking our commitment to cordless freedom and our expertise to provide a dependable solution for a wireless presentation device," said Chris Bull, director of marketing for Logitech's pointing devices. "The Cordless Presenter is especially well suited for professionals on the road, with its ability to double as an optical mouse."
Cordless Presenter features an attractive blue finish and a curved shape that fits comfortably in the hand. It can be used by both left and right handed users. Its left button defaults to forward and the right to back; however, with the included Logitech MouseWare, these buttons can be programmed to suit the user's preference. When in mouse mode, the left button of the Cordless Presenter serves as the select function, and the right button brings up the context-sensitive menu. In addition, two scroll buttons are dedicated to vertical scroll while the device is being used as a mouse.
The Cordless Presenter receiver connects to the PC via a USB port and is compatible with Windows 98, Windows 2000 Windows Me and Windows XP. Cordless Presenter uses Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID) Profile .95 and will be compatible with devices based on this HID profile. The USB receiver serves as a bridge for notebooks that do not use the HID profile .95. The product carries a limited five-year warranty.
About Bluetooth: Bluetooth is a wireless technology that offers cable replacement for personal electronic devices. Bluetooth products combine a small-form factor, low-cost radio solution providing links between mobile computers, mobile phones and other portable handheld devices, as well as Internet connectivity. The "Bluetooth Special Interest Group" or "SIG" is comprised of leaders in the telecommunications, computing, and network industries and is driving development of the technology and bringing it to market. The Bluetooth SIG provides a forum for companies to work together using short-range wireless technologies to solve customer problems. In response to interest by the computer accessory industry, the Bluetooth SIG formed the Human Interface Device Working Group in December of 1999. Logitech has been actively involved as an associate member of the Bluetooth SIG working group to develop a Bluetooth profile.
