Konica Minolta Introduces the Di1610 Series

(Konica Minolta) today announced a new series of multifunction print/copy/scan/fax solutions -- the Di1610, Di1610p and Di1610fp -- designed to help small and home office businesses complete their print, copy, scan and fax communications quickly and cost-effectively. The Di1610 is currently available, and the Di1610p and Di1610fp will be available in the fall of 2004.

Di1610 -- An All-Digital Replacement
The Di1610 is an ideal solution for businesses making the move from analog to digital. It comes standard with built-in GDI printing (up to 16 pages per minute) and simple connectivity with the USB 1.1 and IEEE 1284. It also features color and B&W TWAIN scanning to scan and digitize color originals as easily as B&W. With a print resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi (equivalent) and a copy resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi, the Di1610 produces superior quality documents with fine details and smooth halftones.

With a maximum paper capacity of 760 sheets (250 sheets standard), the Di1610 Series enables businesses to work for days without needing to add paper. In addition, the Di1610's bypass tray supports 10 sheets of paper, one envelope and five OHP transparency sheets. The Di1610 handles a wide variety of paper stocks including paper up to 8.5. x 14. in size, and 16 - 24 lb. bond and 16 - 43.5 lb. specialty paper.

Di1610p -- A Professional Solution
The Di1610p offers enhanced, professional image quality with its built-in PCL 6 printing capabilities. In addition to PC connectivity, the Di1610p has an optional 10/100 BaseT network interface card (NIC) for easy network connectivity. Like the Di1610, the Di1610p includes standard TWAIN scanning capabilities for both color and B&W originals. The Di1610p also features all of the paper handling capabilities of the Di1610, providing businesses with the ability to produce reports, proposals, presentations, and more -- in-house and on-demand.

Di1610fp -- An All-in-One Solution
The Di1610fp is an all-in-one solution, supporting print, copy, scan and fax functions in a single compact design. Like the Di1610p, it has standard PCL6 print capabilities, an optional NIC for network connectivity and a wide variety of paper handling capabilities. In addition, the Di1610fp is equipped with the Automatic Document Feeder, for quick feeding and scanning of multipage originals.

The Di1610fp is the only model in the series to feature built-in, high- volume fax capabilities. The Di1610fp can transmit fax messages in less than three seconds per page with Super G3 compatibility, JBIG data compression and a 33.6 Kbps modem speed. Fax capabilities include 200 x 400 dpi resolution for transmission and reception, six settings to fine-tune fax reception quality, 215 autodialing keys (15 one-touch and 200 speed-dial keys), and F-Code support. Optional fax capabilities include an Internet Fax/Network Scan Kit for fast and efficient network distribution of documents via Internet faxing, scan-to-email and scan-to-FTP.

Optional Accessories
The Di1610 Series has a number of optional accessories including the Automatic Document Feeder (standard on Di1610fp configuration), a 500-sheet paper cassette, memory upgrades, a mechanical counter and the original cover.

PageScope Suite Provides Document Processing and Network Management Functions
PageScope, Konica Minolta's powerful family of integrated software applications and utilities that help customers manage their documents and devices, is offered for the Di1610p and Di1610fp. Included in the PageScope suite of products is PageScope Net Care, which provides network administrators with detailed information about the operating conditions of all networked output devices containing a Management Information Base (MIB) from any Web browser. Using the information available from Net Care helps lower management costs and maintains optimum condition of the devices.

Also included is PageScope Web Connection, which allows users to instantly check device conditions on all network-connected Konica Minolta printer/copiers from their desktop; PageScope Network Setup, to set up the controller from the desktop; and PageScope EMS Plug-Ins and NDPS Gateway, for seamless connections to Enterprise or Novell Distributed Print Services.

Pricing and Availability
The Di1610 is now available through Konica Minolta's North American direct sales, authorized dealer and value-added reseller channels. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Di1610 base unit is $1,550. The Di1610p and Di1610fp will be available in fall 2004 and MSRPs will be available at that time.
